I can make photographic suggestions, if you'd like. I'm certainly no master, but I have done more than a little.
@KiwiDan are you sticking to a phone for getting images or do you have a camera of some sort? the first thing I'd do a little differently is get a few pieces of cloth to lay out and fold up as a base and background - light color(s) for cloth to use on mostly dark figures, dark to black cloth for lighter color figures. you'll likely also want some fairly bright lights to get extra light on the subjects. if your camera has f stop numbers, you'll want to bump that up a bit to get a little more depth of field which is a way of saying how much stuff you have in focus - a larger f number is a smaller aperture for light to go through, but it lines up more so a thicker range is focused. smaller opening means less light which means you're more likely to need the lamps.
