I find it interesting the things people take
from my posts.
Yesterday, I posted about the absurdity of the things we take importance in. The meaningless things that have zero value and add nothing to life, but we take them as seriously as the grave.
I used my workplace, the people who work here, and the product as my example of it. It wasn't about any of those things though. They were just the examples I had on hand.
I got a lot of comments about work, importance of, or the mass production of products, and various other things. A few actually caught on and agreed, life is absurd. (Thank you, btw.)
Now, maybe it was my writing. Maybe it was too obscure to understand that I was saying, "life is too important to put absurd things before it, like work and products", and if so, well, that fault lay on me. But some of you did get it, so...I can't say.
I can say, reading comprehension goes a long way. We have become so absorbed in the 280 character blurb that we have lost a lot of sense of storytelling, finding deeper meanings, and illustrative expressions. That makes me sad. As a writer, I thrill at setting up a scene and making it mentally visual to add in nuance and symbols.
Have we truly lost that ability to read deeper and gain more understanding? I sure hope not. We all are more than surface level quips.
