Rock hunting

Chasing contrails, and rare glimpses of things few have ever seen, came after a life long love of flying, and travelling.

I've seen the shuttle at 10 times the speed of a bullet.
A spy plane, at the edge of space, taking pictures along the east coast.
The legendary Concorde, glide to a landing, low over the city.
And the haunting stealth bomber, circle the Space Needle, during a PR flight.

Meteor fireballs; strobing spacejunk tumbling; and a 20 LB meteorite on a beach, have all crossed my path.

But only one experience can be had, in the high deserts of Nevada.
Capturing America's military flying elite, at their very best:

In a jeep on the ridge of a 20 mile canyon, the sun's set over the black rock desert.
Desolate, save for a road runner; and the distant "boom" overhead, sounding the arrival of the 'Unexpected Guest'. A stealth bomber.

The CB radio crackles to life; through the static, comes the call: "REAPER, TWO-FOUR -- in range."

And a breath later: "BANDIT SIX, pressing JEDI TRANSITION"

A building dust storm trails sharply across the canyon floor.
Pushing thunder ahead of it; ricocheting off cliffs and granite sidewall.

There, emerges a jackknifed silhoutte, with 2 darts in trail.
In flowing lines, moving as water; around buttes and hills.

Then the vanguard breaks off, shadowing their charge. And radios: " EXITING POINT JULIET".

I log my sightings, and review the film. Certain, this will be one for the history books.

You might be surprised I have dabbled with this a long time, since I was a child I arrange various ways for me to experience small amount of electric current. If I accidentally grab alive house Hold current my hand jerks back but I’m not harmed. There are ways, of having this experience safely do not take up with random experimenters

I collect and use vacuum tube radios

I wear women's clothing and I don't wear them to feel feminine either. I wear a beard and my chest hair with them.

I will only buy cars & trucks made before 1984, nothing newer then that. I hate cars with computers in them

I built my car from completely from scratch, only thing store bought was the Engine which I rebuilt myself, the transmission and the rear end

I listen to music from the 1930-1970s a lot and I own over 5000 records

I am a film camera nut and own over 120 cameras. My oldest is from 1907 and my newest is from 1988

I have my own darkroom and I develop my own film and pictures

I been on television, radio and in the newspaper many times in my life

I never owned a cellphone in my life, I still have the house phone and that's good enough for me.

I hold a set of radio licenses that allows me to transmit on anything including the television

I have also talked to people on the space shuttle and the international space station.

I turned a job down to work at NASA in their radio communication department. Because radio wasn't as fun as it used to be for me ( this was shortly after college) if I would have taken that job. I wouldn't never meet my wife

I became a farmer because I was too lazy to job hunt the modern way. Turns out I'm pretty good at it to.

Want to know more interesting facts about me. Just ask me

Thanks for asking about my unusual hobby. I create music from old electronic devices that are no longer in use, such as an old tape recorder or a calculator. It's exciting for me to explore sounds and experiment with music. If you'd like to learn more, feel free to ask!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@HomeTechMaster That's a fascinating hobby! I know there are enthusiasts who use old musical and non-musical equipment for its designed purposes, and once met a couple who ran a business overhauling early synthesisers; but yours is a new and original line.
Not in any specific order......

Absolutely LOVE cars with fins (~1956-1962)
Pre-war Harley Davidson and Indian Motorcycles
Model Trains
Other antique cars (the ones without fins 1920s-1967)
1960's mainstream rock & roll and 60s garage bands

I dabble in theoretical physics, have collected most game systems from the
odyssey to the PS4, and at my age, much prefer hardtek and psycore to the old 70's music.

Gardening
Old fashioned computer generated art - where you code for it to happen
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@V00doo Gardening has no shock value as it is one of the most popular and rewarding hobbies going! I might become half-reasonable at it myself one day,

The art though - using PovRAY, or similar, with its command-line language? Or writing the entire programme from scratch?

I have a copy of an early version of PovRAY. I don't know if it will run on my WIN 11 PC but should be happy on my spare, XP computer. I have not gone far with it but did rather like its modus operandi. Though it reminded me a bit of work where we drove Hewlett-Packard electronic instruments using HP's version of BASIC, so by command-lines enclosing the measurement instructions.
