More stuff to get out of my head

On Sunday I realised that I have a spare $100 GW voucher which was originally intended for Horus Heresy but now isn't really needed for that purpose. This has opened up a couple of possibilities to get something else, namely for my Lumineth or Tzeentch armies for Age of Sigmar; the problem is that I have no real idea of what I should go for.

I'm looking at either a Wind Spirit and box of Bladelords, or just a Mountain Spirit for Lumineth; or either a Lord of Change, or like 3 boxes of blue/brimstone horrors for Tzeentch. Obviously the horrors boxes would be the best value, since for $108 I'd be getting 60 models, but at the same time I don't want to have to build and paint 60 more models. The Mountain Spirit and Lord of Change are massive centrepiece models which I'd not have to get any more of but are each over $100 for a single model (and the LoC is the most expensive option at $115). Finally the Wind Spirit and Bladelords would give me 6 models to paint but doesn't feel like it's worthwhile for 6 models which are mostly standard infantry with a medium-large model.

Alternatively I could just save it for more Heresy stuff, but since I don't know the prices of the new boxes of Mark III or Mark IV marines coming out (they were $99 and $100 respectively) and since they've doubled the number of models in each box the price will have increased by at least an additional 75%

Who knows, and who cares.

Are you happy with the state of GW and their support for the fans?

Seen a lot of rumblings from discontented players on youtube.

@KiwiDan what changes would you like to see, or perhaps changes that you'd want them to roll back?

@Longpatrol Well, discounting the idea of price decreases (which are so unlikely as to be humanly impossible), there are a couple. Namely building up armies that they've introduced into Age of Sigmar since it was released which currently only have a few kits (namely Fyreslayers, who have about 3 non-hero units), and... well, I'm not sure how well I'll be able to express myself here. I don't want to be too negative, because I still enjoy the games regardless.

The biggest change I'd like to see is rolling back from supporting hyper-competitive tournament-style play as the the 'main' way to play 40k and AOS - this is far more prevalent in 40k, but the issues I have extend to AOS as well. Firstly is the insane rules bloat that's occurred since 9th edition launched in 2020; there's the main rulebook, codexes for each faction, supplement books which each have different rules in them, and they keep adding to it. Secondly, I HATE stratagems as a concept because they're essentially just insane combo 'gotcha' rules that unless you own and/or have meticulously studied every book available with them in it is impossible to keep on top of. Thirdly, and separately from the first point, is an increase in rule complexity, which is going to take some explaining. There is a different between that and bloat, as one is adding more rules (often for the sake of adding them), and one is making interactions more complex. Stratagems have contributed to this, but moreso it's the basic rules being expanded from being fairly simple to way too overcomplicated in the shift from 8th-9th 40k; they write pretty much everything in this really overcomplex 'game-designer-legalese' (for lack of a better term) which more often than not obfuscates intent and leads to far more confusion than it manages to alleviate.

@KiwiDan The bloat would also I assume be a barrier of entry to new players, and very vexing it seems to veteran players.

Game rules should be kept as simple as possible, any further complexity I would assume only appeals to players who have a Tzeentch-like interest in the game.

How about we swap give it to me and I will give you a ExtremeNext nude 😏
KiwiDan · 31-35, M
@ExtremeNext What would you even spend a NZ$100 Warhammer voucher on?
ExtremeNext · 31-35
@KiwiDan you need to know everything don't you 🧐
KiwiDan · 31-35, M
