What's a good way to clean out an electric toothbrush head?

I do change it every 3-4 months as recommended, but gunk still builds up on the inside part of the removable head after about a month. I try rinsing it out with water and poking at the gunk with the sharp end of a floss pick, but I feel this isn't the best method.

I used to have one of these with the same problem, never did figure it out before it stopped taking a charge. Back to regular manual brushes now.

Oh. I still like my electric toothbrush, so I'll probably just buy another if this one gives out on me. I'm sure I can find another one for $40 when I need to.

rinse and rinse and rinse after you've cleaned it with a floss pick or toothpick...soak in some vinegar and water solution to kill germs.

I do rinse it after cleaning it with the floss pick, but I hadn't thought of using vinegar. I'll see what I can do. I'm not sure if vinegar is even in this house, but I suppose I can look around. Thanks for the suggestion!

fill a glass with hot water and soak the head over night the gunk will come out

That sounds like an easy solution. I'll try that. Thank you for the suggestion!

I have yet to try that. Thank you for the suggestion!

I just change the head.

But then I'd be changing the head after only a month, and each head is $10, so I'll probably try the other suggestions listed by others first.

@hiddenkitty: yeah not worth it, in that case buy a regular toothbrush or it will cost you thousands of bucks in the end
