Congratulations anti-vaxxers! They said it couldn't be done!!

But you guys wouldn't take no for an answer - you brought POLIO back to the USA! Amazing!!

A young adult male in Rockland County NY, who didn't leave the country, has contracted polio (AKA poliomyelitis). They don't know where he got it, other than from some other infected person. Yes, he's unvaccinated, despite the requirement that all school age children be multiply vaccinated for polio.

He showed up at his doctor's office complaining of weakness and paralysis.
Polio is very contagious, and a person can spread the virus even if they aren't sick. Symptoms, which can be mild and flu-like (fatigue, fever, headache, stiffness, muscle pain, vomiting), can take up to 30 days to appear, during which time an infected individual can be shedding virus to others. Though rare, some polio cases can result in paralysis or death.

In this case, sequencing performed by the Wadsworth Center – NYSDOH's public health laboratory – and confirmed by CDC showed revertant polio Sabin type 2 virus.
Yes, the paralysis is permanent and irreversible. And it all could have been prevented by a few routine doses of polio vaccine; CDC recommends total of four doses: 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 through 18 months old, and 4 through 6 years old.

Sixty plus years of hard work by doctors and epidemiologists and public health officials is starting to be undone by anti-vaxxers and the misinformation they spread. Lordy lordy, what does it mean when the ignorant spread POLIO in our great land??

😂😂😂 its vaxxed induced polio
Graylight · 51-55, F
@gol979 Har-har-har. The unvaccinated victim contracted it from someone outside of the country who had taken an oral polio vaccine which hasn't been authorized for use in the U.S. since 2000.

It's takes a certain kind of fool to laugh at his own idiocy.

@Graylight Indeed, although the NY State Dept of Health, who announced this polio case, said the patient was not traveling during what would have been his transmission/reception window. So the dates and conditions say he contracted it within US borders. But the strain of polio most likelye came from outside the US.

In short, this appears to be a case of polio transmission within US borders, rather than a case contracted externally who then traveled here with polio.

@Graylight @ElwoodBlues Its vaccine induced polio irrespective of how the vaccine was administered. Why is the oral version banned in america?

Imagine making a whole thread about "anti-vaxxers" bringing a lurgy back when the polio came from a vaccine. Truly amazing. Did you know it was vaccine induced polio?
@gol979
Its vaccine induced polio
Bulllshit. Evidence free batshit crazy bulllshit. You are making up sad little lies to rationalize your bad decisions about vaccines.
Why is the oral version banned in america?
Because studies have shown the injected version and the four dose course recommended by CDC is more effective.
Did you know it was vaccine induced polio?
I know you have zero evidence for that claim. I know you are desperately inventing rationalizations to explain your bad choices.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues you should read your own propaganda:

"In this case, sequencing performed by the Wadsworth Center – NYSDOH's public health laboratory – and confirmed by CDC showed revertant polio Sabin type 2 virus. This is indicative of a transmission chain from an individual who received the oral polio vaccine (OPV), which is no longer authorized or administered in the U.S., where only the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) has been given since 2000. This suggests that the virus may have originated in a location outside of the U.S. where OPV is administered, since revertant strains cannot emerge from inactivated vaccines."
@gol979 I read it dude. Lemme translate for you.

Somebody brought a foreign strain of polio to the US. We know it's foreign because it's a strain that ESCAPES some oral vaccine overseas but is blocked by US injected IPV vaccine.

That foreign polio was transmitted, IN THE US, to a fool who is unvaccinated for polio. He got his anti-vaxx ass paralyzed. SAD!
gol979 · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues 😂 come on now, we can all read. You missed the part "This is indicative of a transmission chain from a person who received the oral polio vaccine".......its vaccine induced polio
@gol979
"This is indicative of a transmission chain from a person who received the oral polio vaccine"
Yes, a person got an oral polio vaccine, and that oral vaccine didn't stop THIS PARTICULAR strain of polio. Polio has been evolving; that's why we stopped using oral polio vaccines 20 years ago.

BUT! This particular strain of polio DOES get stopped by US IPV vaccine. Thats why only some fool who is unvaccinated for polio got paralyzed. The oral polio vaccine might have been good 50 years ago, but as of this day & date, oral polio vaccine is DEFECTIVE. That's why it let this strain past. That's why we don't use it in the US.

Now lemme ask you a few questions: if polio vaccine causes polio, why has the US polio eradication been so effective? Why is this the first case of polio in the US in NINE YEARS??

If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the European polio eradication program been so effective? If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the South American polio eradication program been so effective? Wait, I'm not done yet! If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the polio eradication program in China been so effective?

Seriously dude! If you're going to posit that vaccine causes polio, you're going to have to explain why we've been so successful at eradicating polio USING VACCINES!!! Seriously, dude, the numbers and the facts make a FOOL of you!!!
gol979 · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues 😂😂 but its vaxxed induced polio. You are making the dirty "anti-vaxxers" point for them. Best thread ever 😂
@gol979
but its vaxxed induced polio
You keep saying that, but that claim doesn't fit ANY of the facts! That claim is every bit as idiotic as "Jewish space lasers" LOL!!!

Seriously, dude. If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the US polio eradication program been so effective? If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the European polio eradication program been so effective? If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the South American polio eradication program been so effective? Wait, I'm not done yet! If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the polio eradication program in China been so effective?

Your claim just doesn't fit that facts, ROTFL!!!
gol979 · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues 😂😂 do.you need a spade to help dog your own hole? This is fantastic 😂
@gol979 You misunderstood the scientific jargon. That's clear.

If vaccines could induce polio, why has the US polio eradication program been so effective? If vaccines could induce polio, why has the European polio eradication program been so effective? If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the South American polio eradication program been so effective? Wait, I'm not done yet! If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the polio eradication program in China been so effective?

DUUUDE!!! You just can't let go of your silly assumptions, can you? You're assuming polio vaccines induce polio. How do you explain these eradication successes?
gol979 · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues your a fraud pal. A Big Harma propagandist. Its all there for everyone to see. Too funny 😂
@gol979 You are proceeding from false principles and can't admit it. Your claims don't fit the facts, and you can't admit it. It's all there for everyone to see. Too funny!!

I'm guessing you got your claim from some source other than what you quoted, but you're ashamed of the source so you won't link it. Dude!! If you're ashamed of your source, what does that tell you and us??
gol979 · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues 😂😂 ashamed of my source.....why? Its your own source. You are the gift that keeps giving. Keep it up brother 😂
@gol979 The source as you quote it says "This is indicative of a transmission chain from a person who received the oral polio vaccine." Source also says that's an overseas strain of polio.

We've already established that the US considers the old oral polio vaccine to be defective and that some strains of polio have evolved to evade oral polio vaccine.

How in the world can you thereby conclude that vaccine therefore causes polio?? And how does the premise "vaccines cause polio" explain successful eradication in most of the world??

You are proceeding from false principles and can't admit it. Your claims don't fit the facts, and you can't admit it. It's all there for everyone to see. Too funny!!
gol979 · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues heres another shovel bud. What a comedian you are 😂
@gol979 I notice you've stopped trying to defend your silly claims. But I'll ask again: if polio vaccine causes polio, why has the US polio eradication been so effective? Why is this the first case of polio in the US in NINE YEARS??

If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the European polio eradication program been so effective? If polio vaccine causes polio, why has the South American polio eradication program been so effective? @ElwoodBlues the point im making and backed up by your source is that the polio you are on about is vaxxed induced. Thats it
@gol979 Nope. You misunderstood the scientific jargon and now you're making empty bluffs. The source as you quoted says "This is indicative of a transmission chain from a person who received the oral polio vaccine." Source also says that's an overseas strain of polio.

We've already established that the US considers the old oral polio vaccine to be defective and that some strains of polio have evolved to evade oral polio vaccine.

@ElwoodBlues What about Covid vaccine induced polio ?

@doong DUUUDE!!! Somebody reported to VAERS that some medication turned him into the Incredible Hulk! People post all kinds of crap to VAERS. Some day you should take the time to read the VAERS disclaimer.
In 2004, anesthesiologist James Laidler submitted an alarming report to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). Laidler wrote that after he got his annual influenza vaccine, his muscles began to grow in size, his skin became green, and he turned into the Incredible Hulk.
@doong What unsourced, piecemeal, incomplete hallucination is this?
doong · 56-60, M
@Graylight It's my query result using wonder.cdc.gov/vaers.html

Poor that 3 dude, maybe they never have polio, until moderna/pfizer tamper their gene
@doong DUUUDE!!!
VAERS is like Facebook. Anybody can post anything there!! You really ought to read the disclaimers.
