Health outcomes

It amazes me that when we have an x-ray, those taking it hide behind a bullet proof screen whilst we, the hoi poloi take the full brunt of said x-rays.

Well yeah.

You can have a tsp of vegemite on your toast ...but not a whole jar!

Its their job. Its not healthy to be bombarded day in day out, year after year, to x-rays.

@OogieBoogie I think we, the recipients should be able to insert our whatsit into an aperture for protection of our valued parts. 🙂
@Gusman well....speaking for myself ....my "whatsits" are kinda attatched to me 😂

@Gusman you mean they aren’t giving you the heavy (lead) shields on your important parts??!! Try seeking a different place for your scans. That’s not right.
2cool4school · 46-50, F
@OogieBoogie they still give you the shield no matter what how and where you have your stuff.

@2cool4school For as long as I can remember I have never been shielded whilst having x-rays.

@Gusman wow you should say something about it and see if they can give you a shield. I swear I had X-ray techs give me them but I remember asking once or I wouldn’t have been shielded. But I have heard that unless you’re a complete psycho and you get a few X-rays a month you get more radiation from traveling by airplane. And that leaves me with more ?s than answers. I used to worry most about dental X-rays because they seemed to be more than thorough and again I foggily recall asking them if I was done because it seemed excessive and if I hadn’t been gaged by the little film packets until I 🤮 they would have taken more. Saved by the barf.

@2cool4school I think after all these years, and so few X-Rays I will not be worrying about it.

From Google;
More than 50 years of research has shown that levels of radiation used in modern X-ray machines are so low that the risk of harm is very small or even zero. That's why we are no longer using shields, sometimes called lead aprons, during X-ray exams.
