Silver lining of COVID pandemic: i have not had a single cold since this pandemic began and flu rates were nearly non-existent. Same for anyone else?

Yes. Funny what wearing a mask, washing your hands and keeping your distance will to. Plus around here the kids were off school for more than half a year and those little petrie dishes were usually how colds and flu got around.

Until now. I work in a school and this last two weeks the kids all have coughs and colds and despite wearing masks, most if the staff including me have caugh them...

Yeah, the sort of measures that only work so-so against covid have absolutely BTFOd regular flu and colds.

Was true in the UK, but no longer is. At the moment, far more people are dying from flu and pneumonia than the very small numbers dying from Covid.

tbf though my hayfever this year has been so bad that I’d rather have had a cold instead
