It went downhill from there. We will never know what might have happened with a more aggressive early mitigation. The administration didn't cause the virus, but certainly did not seem to take It seriously, still doesn't, and the trickle down to states and local government as to approach to prevention and mitigation has been obvious.

Thank you for posting this excellent summary.

Many governments reacted too late on the threat, but probably the US failed more miserably than other 1st world countries, and many corona victims are paying the price. It's very sad.
