It will only work if it is monthly and FOR EVERYONE ...NOT JUST THE ONES the Republicans deem "good people" and not just a one off payment.
$1000 does not cover much. By the time you are done, you can pay some bills but what about food and rent? And what about next month?
Two excuses I saw yesterday to not give us this bill:
Because small businesses cannot pay 2 weeks sick leave. Not even temporarily.
Because the bill says domestic partners are considered in the family part of the bill as people who would receive help. A republican doesn't think those who are "domestic partners" (read gay or unmarried) should get help.

@JaggedLittlePill Talk is that the payment will be made to everyone who lodged a tax return last year.
Remember, early days for this proposal. Most likely the Elderly will be included at some time.

@Gusman I just think these talking points are absolutely gross.
We cannot skirt the needs of millions for the needs of a few.
We cannot pick and choose who needs that money or not or who we want to help or don't. This is basic human decency we are speaking of and it seems the Republicans don't have an ounce of it.
We cannot continue to always bail our corporations and businesses but not the actual people.

@JaggedLittlePill There is already talk in Italy and the UK of prioritising treatment for the young over the elderly.
In effect, saying that the young are more important than the elderly.
So moral issues are everywhere.

@Gusman That talk has been going around but I think it was preemptive talk and that Boris has been informed that he is endangering millions with his bs

@Gusman In the hospital ..
It helps to have all the facts.
They are prioritizing patients who have a clear chance to live over the elderly who will likely not live even with intervention. This is because THEY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH HOSPITAL BEDS OR STAFF TO KEEP UP. They had to do this.
Stop pushing false rhetoric. It doesn't help.

@Gusman In tough situations, tough calls need to be made.
I dare you to be there making these calls.
