Do you think intermittent fasting is useful?

I studied that in college , it's good for you because you have less carbs meaning there's less sugar in your system. Less protein also leads to less sugar and the citric acid cycle slows down and glucogenesis slows down. You will end up breaking down fats as an alternative pathway through ketogenesis. Overall you use up less sugar from carbs and proteins and start utilising energy from fats. It's actually pretty good for diabetes, except you want to keep your blood levels in check because your blood can be acidic from producing too many ketones.

@Loomingtrees that’s interesting?
Oh hell yeah. For me anyway it helped me lose weight, feel better and all my vitals improved.

@MrBlueGuy That’s so cool. I’ll try that. You eat two meals a day?
@ShaythePanTransMan Yeah pretty much. I certainly do cheat..I mean if it's Friday night after 8 I'm probably going to have a few beers haha but I just kind of listen to my body.

@MrBlueGuy that sounds difficult

i have type 2 diabetes and since ive started doing it my sugar levels have been improving (and i havent even been doing a great job at it) plus i lost a few pounds and have slimmed down a bit. (just started not too long ago)
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@Penny really? So when do you eat first?
Penny · 46-50, F
@ShaythePanTransMan usually not long after i wake up in the morning. i have to eat when i take my meds or else my stomach hurts. sometimes i'll wait. depends on the day.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@Penny oh okay
I like intermittent feasting better.

Yes, to an extent. But not when over-done. We need to make sure our bodies are getting proper nutrition.

A lot of things are common sense/personal experience. How we feel and how our bodies feel. Being in tune and listening to it is important.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@Magenta yes
Haha maybe they will
That’s true

@midnightsun In what?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
They say it's good for you and can extend your life.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@basilfawlty89 what do you mean? Gene editing will cause cells to die?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@ShaythePanTransMan not exactly. With gene editing we can restore cells to youthful epigenetic levels. There are nine hallmarks of aging, if we address all nine it will reverse aging entirely.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@basilfawlty89 Oh! That’s cool. I was confused when you said senescence.
