It's a question of impulse control. Compulsive shopping, like gambling and so many other things, is a form of addiction.
When I first discovered ebay, I went nuts. Back then it was like an enormous flea market, and I didn't have to slog through an entire town full of tables and stalls to explore it.
Time has shown me that material goods do not stay with us throughout our lives. Working in nursing homes where all people can bring with them are a few framed photos and 12" of clothing in their tiny closets has demonstrated to me very clearly that there is not one thing that you can take with you.
In the end, you are your memories, your heart, and your soul.
