I’m so sorry my friend. Not me, but I have had family members with cancer. I know it’s not the same but I’m here if you want to talk. Sending love and super big hugs.
Fernie · F
@LyricalOne Excellent!! wait...let me just put on these protective goggles so I don't get my eye poked out
LyricalOne · F
@Fernie And your tinfoil hat just in case.
Fernie · F
@LyricalOne 🤔...I'll have to go out now and buy Reynolds's wrap

I had that experience about three years ago. Fortunately mine was operable, prostrate cancer often is, and all worked out pretty well. I initially refused to believe the diagnosis and had them run it again. Finally you just take one day at a time and go from their. I had great support which was critical.
I know how scary it is when you hear good luck!

"I'm sorry to tell you it's prostate cancer." Well I was stunned. Then he started rattling off all of the treatment options. I missed all of shit because I was still stuck on "cancer". Eventually I processed it and moved forward with the treatment regiments.
Fernie · F
@SW-User Yes! After the word "cancer" one stops hearing anything else. Are you ok now?
Fernie, my sister!!
Cancer is mostly curable these days... it can be frightening at the beginning, but have faith and trust your body..
love you and you will be in my prayers... I'll be here for you .. 🤗❤️

Not me but my Mom. It was like a kick in the gut for the family.
She was depressed, angry, upset. Every emotion you can think of. Eventually accepted it. Gone through chemo and radiation. Waiting now to see if her scan is clean, so now anxious, afraid, angry.
Whatever you're feeling is perfectly natural.
You got this. Kick cancers ass.

I have back in Oct 2015 then told I would not survive to see the new year.
It was a shock for sure especially for my husband and kids and family. After the numbness lifted we all grieved. Doing research scared me and my family but at the end of the day and a knowing that I will be facing a lifetime of complications until my body can't fight an longer, I said to myself screw that. I fought and still do every day. The type I have is an incurable MPN but I am still here and still surviving with it well past the experatation date I was told I had.
Those with cancer and our family and friends all go through grief stages at what the cancer and treatment will take from you but word of advice. Do not let your outward appearance, the fatigue, feeling ill from treatment or any of it dictate who you become or what you want to do with your life. Yes cancer kills but it doesn't kill all of us and we certainly should not let it take our spirit, hope and will to accomplish what we want out of life.

Blessings to you! My heart and prayers go out to you.

So sorry to hear it. Never had cancer but a different life threatening/incurable disease. It isn't easy. I act strong for the sake of everyone else and fall apart later, usually here. Not the healthiest way to cope but it protects my family from hearing the awful feelings I have frequently.
Fernie · F
@SwampFlower I hope you at least get some support from somewhere...hiding it is stressful
<3 <3 <3 <3 omf im so so sorry

Fight. Period.
BiasForAction · M
oh i had that happen. Fortunately it was localized and fixable and hopefully curable. but it really put me in a bad mood around christmas time for sure.
Fernie · F
@BiasForAction Christmas..not a good time to hear that! Glad you're ok. I know I'll be too
BiasForAction · M
@Fernie it does sharpen ones priorities.
But seriously, i shall pray for you to have the strength to deal with it.

so sorry. No great advice other than be gentle with yourself in the short term, fight long term and reach out to positive people. Thoughts and prayers with you
Fernie · F
@luckranger71 I appreciate that
Probably the number one reason I don't go to the doctor.
BiasForAction · M
@jetpack if i did not go the doctor i would be dead today.
@BiasForAction we all take our chances.

Sorry to hear that. My grandmother, mother and 2 sisters have all been diagnosed with cancer.
My grandmother and mother are now deceased, but neither died of cancer.
My 2 sisters also went through surgery and chemo treatments, and both are currently in remission.
It’s not necessarily a death sentence, and it won’t necessarily make you thin either.
Do what you can to fight it (hopefully without having too much of an impact on your way of life). ❤️ 🤗

I'm so sorry to read this Fernie. I've had it happen to people I love and found myself in the caretaker role. The best advice I can give you is to find a good friend to be your health advocate. It's so much to process early on, and keeping all the information you're receiving straight is very difficult. It's hard to think about the questions you need to ask because you go into panic mode. If you don't have anyone in your life who can be with you every step of the way, I have a suggestion for a book that I found to be very useful and became my bible. Actually, even if you have someone helping you, I highly recommend you buy it. I can't get into detail atm, but it lays everything out that you need, to be fully informed to make the right decision for your situation, along with all the resources available to you. I was shocked it didn’t really sink in till I left my doctor and then I phoned someone and burst in to tears. This was about 5 years ago and I’m fine now. I hope your recovery journey goes well!

Yes, I had major surgeries, so far clear and feeling good for 7 months - keep a positive outlook and be diligent...there's lots of good info out there. I wish you good health.

I hope that you get the best care and the best outcome you can possibly have. We love you, Fernie.

I just want you to know that you are in my thoughts. I have a feeling that everything will work out for the good. You seem to be a very tough person and I admire that. I had a breast cancer scare last year. I didn't know what to think. It turned out negative, they are still watching the mass in left breast.
