Without Therapy or Prescribed Drugs Have You Pulled Yourself Out of Depression Before?

What did you do? I have used exercise and self therapy in the past. Exercise is very healthy and it clears your mind. I think if you take the time to reflect and think about your life, write things down, you can actually be your own therapist. I’ve never taken prescribed drugs or been to a therapist and never will. Not knocking these sources because different solutions work for different people.

@SW-User That’s right! Glad to see others get it that you don’t always need outside sources.

There are many types and causes of depression and not all of them can be treated without medications and therapy...that's where most people make mistakes and there are doctors who will medicate people too who don't need to be and that's also a mistake. Therapy doesn't work for all people, but can work wonders for a lot of people (and they don't even necessarily have to be depressed or have a mental illness). Neither therapy nor medication is a cure all though. It depends on the individual and them getting a proper diagnosis.

With my brand of depression, I could barely get out of bed to brush my teeth let alone exercise. Might have just as well told me to climb Mt. Everest.

@Chickie Therapy and Medicine may not work for everyone and exercising, meditation, and self-help isn't for everyone
