A systematic study of marijuana and its effects on lung function suggested physiologic data were inconclusive regarding an association between long-term marijuana smoking and airflow obstruction measures. Long-term marijuana smoking is associated with increased respiratory symptoms suggestive of obstructive lung disease.
However, the adverse impact of marijuana smoking on pulmonary function and respiratory complications has not been systematically assessed.
This can be mitigated with vaporizing. Marijuana can affect memory function when smoked chronically in adolescent patients but hasn't been shown to have the same effects in those older than their early 20's.
