I'm 70. I've been feeling younger every year since I was your age!
Mindful · 56-60, F
@ninalanyon thank you for sharing that! I'm glad to hear that you are doing well all the way around! It nice to know that not every one is having a difficult time financially and health wise. Kiddos!

@Mindful I can't claim much credit for it. I think it mostly came down to a combination of genes and luck of being born where and when I was. My interests (physical sciences, engineering) from an early age coincided with what society needed so education was a joy instead of a slog (mostly) and and finding a job afterwards was easy too and mostly satisfying.

I just wish that society at large was geared to supporting young people to be and do their best as my little corner of the world was in the '60s and '70s.

@ninalanyon how observant you are! It's very considerate way of seeing things. We are blessed because of genetics, society, upbringing, the attitude of "the times" in which we were born, and it's sad and strange that the opposite exists. To ease my mind I tell myself, it is the way of nature too. Maybe there is truth to reincarnation ... and maybe in a past life we were once there. Preferably not where we are headed. Sigh. Best to just Enjoy your day!!! Hahah
I look back at when I was in my twenties and the older people I worked with. They were for the most part in their thirties and forties, and I thought they were ancient, anyone in their fifties or sixties were well past it.
Now I see all the anti aged posts, the youngsters criticising men (in the main) over forty for having the audacity to be on line, and I get it, there are creeps about, but there's plenty of creeps in their twenties and thirties.
I feel guilty that I dismissed the older generation when I was younger, and now I see it happening to my age group and it sort of feels like karma.
I thought I'd get old and feel old, but I feel like I'm in my twenties.
Sure my body's not as fast or strong, but now I know what I can do and where I should be.
Experience means I don't need to move as fast, because I'm already a step ahead.

@Mindfulnessi understand what you're saying and love the realizations! It's true! When I think of some of the things I said when I was in my 20's I think to myself, " what an idiot I was, so ignorant!" I didn't even realize what others must have been thinking or feeling!!! Luckily I can laugh at myself and realize that I'm probably still ignorant of some other truths that the future holds...and I must forgive those younger than I am now.

But we in the over forty generations are the ones who invented being on line !

I've been online longer than those youngsters have been alive!

I'm glad for you. I don't feel my age very much either - I walk fast and think like I did when I was 20-30....I think it's a gift, because I see others that are not like this...
Mindful · 56-60, F
@fun4us2b that is awesome. You must have good genetics and or live a healthy lifestyle! I'm also glad for you!
fun4us2b · M
@Mindful Thank you, mostly genetics, though I try to stay healthy. The knowledge thing though, sometimes it's almost too much, as much as I am able to not get bogged down in what and how much we know, sometimes it is a bit much....
Mindful · 56-60, F
@fun4us2b re: knowledge being too much and bogging us down... I relate to that!!! Sometimes I have to just settle on an overly simplistic conclusion just to be able to shut it off and move on from feeling overwhelmed. I especially feel that way when it comes to politics ALOt.But I'm not actually knowledgeable in that dept. It's just the psychology of it all is very upsetting. I chalk it up to so many lies, and the sense that we'll never know the truth. But I'm glad there are those who are battling the political fight. I know I am not smart enough to play a game of government politics. The moment I share an opinion is the moment someone "proves" me wrong on this site.

I can't say that I feel younger after passing 70, but I am using my retirement to improve my mind. There is so much to learn!

It feels odd being the same age as old people ;-)
Mindful · 56-60, F
@BrandNewMan hahaha...I categorize myself as old because when I was young I thought this age was old so it must be true.haha Plus, I'm getting called "mam"" now... as in yes mam, no mam
BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
