how can i cope with my mum getting older

my mum is elderly now...i have always been very close to my mum and adored my mum...but yes, she is elderly and won't be able to spend the usual week with me over the christmas period...she usually would drive down to see me and spend a week with me....but instead my sister is driving her down on christmas day and my mum will spend a couple of hours with me and make my christmas dinner.......i'm just really scared of the time when my mum won't be around and what will happen to me here?....i live alone in a little flat....i have no support network anymore apart from my elderly mum and dad.....they 2 live far from me.....i rely mainly on my mum for so much still....i couldn't bare life without my mum.

Time to expand your circle! Join a weight watchers group, for example. Join a gym and see if anyone there wants to run in the mornings. Join a church!

Then start thinking about what YOU can do for other people, instead of what your family can do for you. Visit the elderly in nursing homes. Volunteer at your local food pantry. There are SO many ways to branch out and meet other people...and eventually, they become your support group!

You should get started. Don't put it off until you have no one at all.

@4meAndyou thanks, i'll do my best but it'll be a challenge for me as i'm not very sociable.

@darkmere1983 If you put yourself out there, (as a volunteer for example), you will be SO appreciated that you don't need to be sociable. Just show people that you care, and THEY will care for you when you need help.
