I agree that regular driving tests should be mandatory in old age, but honestly it's tough to blame people for opposing that in a country where just picking up groceries may require an hours-long walk. We need to fix the infrastructure first.

Imo the bigger issue is that ppl drive cars that are higher up than the ones they took their driving tests in, thus never proving competency managing an SUV's blind zone.

I just informed my wife she will never drive again and thats a battle I will be having several times due to her forgetfulness. Its one of those independence issues many people refuse to see for themselves. Being in charge of a ton of metal at speed makes a loss of focus a threat to yourself and others. So it has to be done.. In my case, her car is in the driveway with a dead battery, so its safe out there folks..😷

I think Biden saved us from utter chaos, so huge respect for him. Age doesn’t matter if he’s capable of handling his duties well.

As for driving…now that’s a totally different bag-o-gloops! I am from California and boy, there are a lotta old ladies driving convertibles on highways. 🙄

People don't understand driving is a privilege and not a right. They get up in arms about age discrimination if there's talk of even asking people to take some form of driving exam after a certain age.

Did it say he had a license to drive or that he crashed. If someone is capable of driving and theyre 102, then they get to drive whenever their heart desires. There's lots of crashes and wrecks on US hwys everyday . And their ages are 16 to like i said. Until they cant drive for whatever reason. Ive actually heard about a guy that was blind, driving, and his kid was telling him where to turn, to brake, to stop, etc. And thats no joke. YeA, the guy was arrested, or whatever the authorities did. And yea, a little crazy here in the US sometimes.

Because it hurts someone's feelings and the AARP doesn't like that. That's the reason. I get it, some people are more than capable of driving well into their 80's on, but mandatory tests, regularly and at least yearly, would be ideal. But that offends the elderly.
