What's the point of growing old

What's the point of growing old
Everything said is left as if untold
Every step vanishes from one night's sleep
Every joy erased by a tragedy

What's the point in growing old

Hands that once held a lovers embrace
Now shake uncontrollably in embarrassing haste
Smiles once held tight wide and white
Leave wrinkles and your teeth fall out what a terrible sight

Allow me the hubris of revision:

Chapter One
What's the point of growing old
Everything said is left as if untold
Every step vanishes from one night's sleep
Every joy erased by a tragedy

What's the point in growing old

Hands that once held a lovers embrace
Now shake uncontrollably in embarrassing haste
Smiles once held tight wide and white
Leave wrinkles and your teeth fall out what a terrible sight

What's the point of growing old

This is a trilogy of age, because the answer to your question shifts dramatically over time. You've written the first stanzas from experiences. The others will come when they, too, are properly aged.

@Graylight Aw, thanks. Keep writing!

I don't know if it's the point of getting old but when I was sick in the hospital and then home and bedridden for weeks, my frail body gave me a glimpse into the fragility of life. I thought I was nearing death. It focused me on those things that were most important. Along with that, my family came together to take care of me. There was more love in our home during that time. I think a similar thing happens when we get older. We know we are getting closer to the end, our days become more precious.
Few gain experience and keep exhausting their Karmas,

Wise neutralise their Karma & leave without traces.

@Lostpoet We all will go. Ultimate Joy is in leaving wishlessly and without regrets.
