It is incredibly difficult and there are no easy answers. One piece of advice I got that really helped (not so much at the time, but later) was to try to live in such a way that you are not left with regrets after they are gone.

Sorry man. I went through this with my grandparents, it's tough to watch someone you love get old and decline like that.
