TW: Calorie counting/food/health reflections
I have posted before about how I typically don't eat more than 1000 calories in a day. Now there are of course days when I go over, like if we dine at a restaurant or it's a special occasion and we order pizza, or eat a dessert, etc. Easy to go over 1000 in those cases. But for me that's very rare.
Today was a typical day for me calorie wise. I had a total of 848. I ate 2 slices of sourdough bread with a small amount of butter for breakfast. Had an Alani energy drink (sugar free, 10 calories). Lunch was not the healthiest, but I had forgotten to bring mine from home so I purchased some items from the kiosk at work. A small bag of Garden Salsa Sun Chips, 2 slices of Colby Jack cheese with 6 small crackers, and a string cheese stick. Dinner: 2 cups of my homemade plant based chicken and vegetable soup. But then I had a second bowl, so total 4 cups. Lol
I didn't work out today because I'm fkng exhausted from dealing with idiots all day and waking up before dawn.
I've made some massive changes in my life just in the last couple of months- and I feel like it's time to make another one. I have anemia and a blood disorder that makes my body struggle to produce blood. It causes permanent exhaustion, fatigue, muscle weakness, and fainting, and as I age I think it's getting worse. I've adhered to an ovo-lacto pescetarian diet for over 20 years, but at my current health and age, I think it's time to reintroduce poultry into my diet. Poultry provides B vitamins, essential protein, and heme iron, which is more easily absorbed into the blood than plant based irons. I will start small of course, gradually adding it to my diet until my gut biome is adjusted.
Ethically it's very hard for me to consume animals, but I also am about to embark on a dedicated fitness journey, a new educational experience, and a new job. I want to feel normal. I want stamina and energy again. I suppose this calls for sacrificing my ethics for my physical needs.
