Question about cancer

Ok so my PCP has been ordering all these tests, just to be on the safe side, not because he suspects anything, but it got me to thinking...
I told my family that if they ever find cancer in me, I will not take the treatments. I've seen too many people live a miserable existence and lose the fight. I don't want to put my family through that and for them to have hope and then have it jerked right out of their hands. I also believe that it's God's will whether or not I live.
Is this a selfish way to feel?

We all lose the fight. We all die, whether we have cancer or not.

Having cancer is just another life challenge. Just like disabilities, just like autoimmune diseases...etc

I rarely mention this but I was born with a heart defect. Earlier in my life, doctors told me that I wouldn't even make it to my 30 years old. One even told me to quit medical sciences because the life style would kill me.

And I, because of many earlier painful life experiences, wasn't planning to live pass my 28 of age anyways. So it wasn't a big deal to me and I didn't really take it to heart. There are no guarantees in life. Kids die everyday and suffer everyday and worse without having an underlying health issue

Life happened. I was needed. I was loved. I fell in love. I had entire communities depending on me...etc etc. And I got stuck here with you all.

I am 35 years old. Though I have some health issues, I will still push through them. Death will come anyway.

It's hard to predict, you'll feel differently if you're faced with it....I now know 2 people that were stage 4 and are now in remission!

@fun4us2b One of my clients, a 96 year old lady, begged her doctor to send her for a colonoscopy, just to be on the safe side. But he was determined that his exams were on point & he knew what he was doing. She got another doctor to send her for one & found out she had stage three colon cancer! She's fine now!

Honestly for me it would depend on the prognosis for what they discover,My Mom fought the god fight against a very aggressive form of cancer but had a living will....it only extended the inevitable.
I don't think you selfish
No, I don't think it's selfish. Our loved ones should respect our decision.

That's just my opinion, though.

Cut out sugar. Cancer feeds off sugar.
I don’t think you are being selfish.

You can live a long time with some cancers. They go into remission for years at a time.
You don't know what the findings are right now, they could be all negative for cancer. 🍀

A good friend of mine got cancer and refused treatment and six years later is still going strong

@Platinum Niiiice!!!
well there’s always a chance of remission and God still heals people … 🙂
They always order lab work with an annual exam.

@Unefilletrescurieuse I've had all but the pap test this year, that's in June.
@Tumbleweed blood work can reveal so very much…
