Would you still get the flu shot in late January?

I have not had it in years but this years strain is much stronger. I'm wondering if I should still get one?

I've never ever gotten the flu shot, my brother did and he told me he felt like extremely, extremely bad. Said he'd never get it again. I've only caught flu one time when I was about 15 years old.
