I Know I'm Alarmist And Can Get Paranoid

I have a doctor's appointment today, which usually isn't any big deal. But with this one, with the symptoms I have, I have a feeling the doctor is going to be looking for some underlying health issue that is not going to have a good outcome.

After tests, I'll be relieved if I have something that can easily be corrected. If it's something that can't, there's nothing I can do but just deal with it.

I'm so glad for my anti-anxiety meds.

I'M SO GLAD I WENT TO THE DOCTOR.

I was showing several symptoms of what could have been ascites. That concerned me so much.

Ascites is a condition that happens when fluid collects in spaces in the abdomen. It can set the stage for an infection in the abdomen. Fluid may also move into the chest and surround the lungs which makes it hard to breathe. That happened one night.

The most common cause of ascites is cirrhosis of the liver (I don't drink alcohol, but my liver could still be scarred from infection).

It can also result from some types of cancer, like ovarian or bladder cancer, heart conditions (I was told I had CHF), dialysis, low protein levels, and infection. Other causes of ascites are infections like tuberculosis, pancreatitis and certain kidney problems.

This was the basis of my concern, and my anxiety.

The doctor told me I don't have ascites, and I am very relieved. I did have some blood drawn so he could look at some markers.

Thank you ALL so much for your caring and support.
You are my family.

Love To You All ❤ 🫂 🙏
@Princess54 Thanks so much Princess. Now I just need to stay on a healthy regimen. And I'll do that. 🤗

@PhoenixPhail I'm really happy for you and glad you went to the doctor. It's good you can check off a major concern.

No matter what they find, I want to know. Once I know, I can do something. Once I know what I'm dealing with, and I've done all I can to fix it, I feel a sense of relief. For me not knowing is the scariest. I have stage 3 CKD and I've had 5 heart attacks.

Best wishes
@oldgrumpbear OMG - stage 3 CKD and 5 heart attacks. 😧 I'm so glad you're still among us. 🫂

Yes, I do find a sense of relief just knowing what it is I'm working with, but not necessarily right at the moment of finding out. That can be anxiety producing to me.

I pray for constant improvement for you. 🙏
Thank you for letting us know so we can pray for you. I can't speak for others but I love you and I will definitely keep you in my prayers. I ask you to please keep us updated. Especially what you find out. What symptoms are you having?
@PhoenixPhail Any time. You'll get through this. Have you been to the doctor about this before or is this something new? I know it's not easy, but try not to get anxious until we actually find out what's going on and then we can go from there. I believe in my heart you'll be okay

Relatable... I'm much the same way. Hard to change that. Hope they don't find anything!
Anti-anxiety meds.... yes, they help. 👍🏻🙂
@Elisbch Yes, the anti-anxiety meds definitely help.
I saw below what your symptoms are. Those can be fixed I believe, from experience.
@LadyGrace Thank you for your generous reply. We are truly blessed to have such a loving God.

And yes, doctors don't know everything (although, so many think they do).

1½ years ago, a cardiologist told me I have congestive heart failure and wanted to put me on medication. I never took it, and my PCP thinks I'm doing fine with it.

Thank you for your encouragement. I am not giving up. 🙏
@PhoenixPhail Way to go!!

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. He is always beside us.
@LadyGrace You are wonderful. Once again, thank you for your kind support. 🙏
Thank you all for your comments and concerns.
You give me strength. ❤

@PhoenixPhail keep us updated only if you feel like it but I'd appreciate it. You don't have to of course
@SatanBurger I'm very touched by so many people's comments and concerns. There are lots of loving people here. 🥹

What symptoms do you have?

@PhoenixPhail I am soon 34 now, and my pancreas have been stable for many years. It just means that I should eat a diet that's easy on my digestion, and eat smaller spread out meals, but that's really how everyone should eat when you think about it. You'd be surprised how many people live to old age despite problematic organs. Especially if the problem is found and medicated if needed.
@Nightwings These are exactly the dietary suggestions my doctor made to me today. And I'm going to follow them.

I'm glad you're doing so well with your condition. I know you'll continue your regimen. 😊

@PhoenixPhail I'm glad to hear that the doctors had nothing too alarming to tell you! It's completely possible to stop the progression of many problems as long as you stay healthy. I empathize with how you felt up to your appointment because I can be hypochondric sometimes, and have to remind myself to calm down lol. I once got so worried about something that I got nausea and could hardly eat for a week (the more nausiated I felt, the more I worried lmao). It was just anxiety. 😆
