Really nervous of Mammogram test results

It says left breast has possible focal asymmetry...and needs another image done. I look up what that means and often time it's simply benign cysts, it's tissue that seemed more apparent on the image. I did have benign cysts last year in the area, so I'm hoping that's what it is. I'm nervous now, because there's always a small percentage it's cancer. But fingers crossed.
Just another thing to worry about 🥺

Radiology reports are notoriously cautious, and most of the time it’s exactly what you already said: overlapping tissue, cysts, or something benign that just didn’t look crystal clear on the first image. I had a mammogram done back in June 2021 same outcome for me was delivered via mail. I didn’t make that next appointment when I should’ve…

The fact that you’ve had benign cysts in that area before actually makes that a really strong possibility. Needing “additional imaging” doesn’t automatically mean bad news…it’s often just the radiologist double-checking with a better angle.

Fingers crossed for you 🤞 You’re being proactive and that’s huge. Sending you good thoughts until you get that call back. 💜

@Vacantfever41 Ty, I appreciate that🌸 Hopefully it is the same cysts. 🤞🏼

@Coralmist Of course. I’m really hoping it’s just the same cysts showing up again too. Hang in there you’ll have more peace of mind once the follow-up is done. ☺

@Vacantfever41 Thank you 🌺
My fingers are crossed too. I have friends and family members who have been through the mammogram and everything went well with positive results. I have faith you will be okay. It is nerve wracking but at least you are getting it done instead of waiting

It's my understanding that, if you had cysts, you'll have them, as they don't "just go away".

So things looking like what you had, in the same area, are likely fine. So don't stress yourself out.

When are you having the next mammogram? Try not to worry too much and keep us posted. We're here for you. 🤗

@Coralmist If they insist, do it. They found a tiny spot on my mother's mammogram and said it's nothing. They told her not to worry, but she demanded another mammogram. When the spot turned up again, they did a biopsy and discovered it was cancerous. If she had listened to them, she would have gone home for a whole year, with cancer before her next mammogram. I looked at her chart, and the doctor wrote that she was overly concerned.

@WonderGirl Wow unbelievable...was it stage 1, were they able to get rid of it,?
WonderGirl · 41-45, F
@Coralmist Yes, it was a tiny tumor or cyst. She wanted a double mastectomy, but the Insurance would not pay. So they created a small breast from the mastectomy and had the other one reduced enough to match.
