Finding self help overwhelming

Have you ever felt just like real healing or real self love or real love in general, is always out of reach?
If you've watched videos on confidence, read many books on healing anxiety , minimizing PTSD symptoms, etc..but it's always all on YOU. Changing my entire blueprint is Extremely difficult. A blueprint of trauma, violence, fear. I'm trying to give myself compassion. That's super hard too, I lived on eggshells daily for many years.( Not To laugh, or even allowed to Talk sometimes.)
I read it's our responsibility to try to diminish the trauma, but when you have to figure out an entire SELF, and develop your own self love, it's overwhelming sometimes. I occasionally think, can love ever come from anywhere else, and what if ever feeling normal is out of my reach???

Rewriting your existence isn’t for the faint of heart. You’re forced to look at yourself in ways that you simply don’t want to, and oftentimes just reading words in a book or watching a video aren’t enough to really get to the roots of the you that’s buried deeply, fortified soundly in the soil that nourished it for so long. We can only do so much, and that’s coming from a Psychology major who experienced so much exhaustion just trying to rewire her own way of thinking. That kind of overhaul requires outside help usually, and even that can prove to be daunting as you try to find the perfect fit with a professional you feel comfortable being so vulnerable with. But when you do find that partner that’s capable of guiding you through moving the heavy stuff, man, do you feel unstoppable in your journey to finally having self-everything.

In case you didn’t know, you’re doing an awesome job at trying to find your way through the “mess” you’re trying to clean up. Give yourself credit for that, and give yourself plenty of compassion as you move forward…even if it’s just through baby steps instead of the great leaps we all think this kind of process should be 💞

@PerfectionOfTheHeart Yes sometimes it feels so overwhelming because I'm not seeing results, to feel less crippling anxiety. But I am working tirelessly at it, so thanks that means a lot🪻. Most therapists are not offering actual therapy, with tools, tips or even mantras I can challenge this toxic foundation with. I totally get it's the clients journey, but they're using that as a format to offer very little 🙁 Or, they just don't care. But I'm going to look for a psychologist soon vs. therapist. Maybe I need a change. Ty again 🫂
