Are you allergic to red dye?

I have red, very itchy splotches all over my body, my foot is swollen & hot. No bite marks, no hives or rash, just itchy skin & the only thing I've done out of the ordinary is lately I've been taking store brand tylenol for headaches & the red dye on the tablets comes off in my hand..

I would say it's an infection of some type from what you said and how it looks. You may have to see a doctor about this.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@Tumbleweed Can you see one pretty soon?
Tumbleweed · F
@Nitedoc I can try for sure

@Tumbleweed Good. ❤

I don't, but I have extreme allergies to scents, color and dyes in soaps, air freshers and carpet fresh, scent beads etc
Tumbleweed · F
@Bang5luts Oh don't get me started on the scents!! I'm not allergic but they give me migraines.
Yes... Red 40, to be specific.

If you're wearing rings, take them off NOW, and be alert for any signs of swelling to accompany your itching.
Tumbleweed · F
@HootyTheNightOwl No, I woke up like this. I was just outside having a smoke.
@Tumbleweed Definitely try an allergy pill and see if it helps.

Don't take anymore Tylenol with Red 40 in it, though... and be careful of other products with red 40 in. If you eliminate it from your diet and it never happens again, then it's red 40.

@HootyTheNightOwl Thank you!

My daughter used to be allergic to the red Flintstone vitamins.
Lilnonames · F
I'm itchy as well ever since I get bit by a tick, nothing relieves it but a shower with medicated shampoo, but it comes back, I too take Tylenol for headaches
Tumbleweed · F
@Lilnonames Be very careful with that tick bite, love. They can be very very harmful to ypur health.
Lilnonames · F
@Tumbleweed I know got tested, nothing came up, but got a rash, and I get a fever now and then
Tumbleweed · F
@Lilnonames That still sounds not so good. Just be careful.
moooooooose · 46-50, M
Nope. Hope you feel better.
Tumbleweed · F
@moooooooose Thank you. I've never had issues from red dye either but it's the only thing I can think of
pdockal · 56-60, M
hope you figure it out ASAP
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Tumbleweed

yikes
Tumbleweed · F
@pdockal yeah! I'm trying not to scratch but the one on my belly is driving me nuts!

Black dyes sometimes cause skin irritation for me.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Tumbleweed I don't know if they use a different dye there or what but I have been careful since.
Tumbleweed · F
@hippyjoe1955 That's crazy!!
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Tumbleweed I thought it was too. No lasting damage but I do avoid black clothes.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Oh no! I have red and itchy eyes from last few days
ScarletWitch · 31-35, F
Tylenol is bad for you. Ibuprofen is better for you.
Tumbleweed · F
@ScarletWitch Thank you
Painkillers usually have such side effects
Tumbleweed · F
@Royricky09 The only reaction I've ever had from any meds at all is penicillin but I'm just not sure what's happening here....
@Tumbleweed for headache try drinking mineral water. It helps
Tumbleweed · F
@Royricky09 Thank you, I'll definitely go buy some bottles. I have headaches all the time.
