Sorry to hear about your injury and hope your road to recovery is a speedy one. After fracturing my back a couple of years ago, I realized just how much we take for granted so far as our health is concerned. Lol…… putting on my underwear became a major victory! I was very grateful for the physical therapists who helped make it happen. And I’m sure yours will keep you moving swiftly back towards independence. 🙂

Oh Sara I’m thinking about you. I hope you have an easy recovery.

Do you have a home nurse or someone to come in and help you? And how do you get up to go to the bathroom with just having hip surgery?

They got me up walking down the hall. I had twisted my left ankle when i fell in 2018. Made recovery difficult. Was glad when i got in PT and started doing things to get back on my feet.
First exercise sweep the leg. 2. Draw the leg up and toward you.
@Confined he said they're to keep blood flowing. didn't think anything difficult

@saragoodtimes I fell on vacation in Florida. They just wanted me walking. I came home and was hit with medical politics. Took a week or so before my doctor would see me, and get me set up with the specialist and some one to do PT. Im still pissed how it all went down. They told me when I got home I should go back to Florida because the doctor in Fl was already paid for the follow up etc. I know I am not the first person to have an accident away from home..... Glad you are getting better care then I did.
@Confined maybe a benefit to have a husband who is a dept chair here at the hospital

I am SO sorry to learn that you fractured your hip. You will need home health care and home PT visits for a while. It's a long recovery time. While you are healing, please accept my prayers for your full recovery!

@4meAndyou Thank You

The hospital beds I had were horrible to get myself out of. I had several major surgeries on the same day. After 4 days of that I pointed to the bed and told the head nurse that I was not going to get back in it. I sleep in the recliner chair and there was a sofa that folded out to a bed that would have been OK too. Ridiculous when it takes 10-15 minutes to maneuver off of a bed.

@NativePortlander1970 I was ready to go home. Only had to get out of that bed one time then and the nurse helped me. Each time I get home the nurse from my insurance called and asked me if I thought I had been released too soon and I told her no. They gave me a paper at the hospital that said according to Medicare if I thought I was being released too soon I could object and be kept longer.
@NativePortlander1970 @cherokeepatti feel fortunate to have a private room with a nurse and aid right outside my door
@saragoodtimes That's a good thing 🤗❤
