I have COVID, first time ever.

Do you recommend taking Paxlovid?
KunsanVeteran · 61-69, M
There are several variants that are spiking now throughout the US. The optimal treatment for you can best be determined by your physician. The earlier you start treatment, the better the benefits and the likelihood of shortening the duration of your ailment.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and be cognizant of not spreading the virus to others.

@KunsanVeteran thank you. Yes I've contacted everyone that I came in contact with.
boudinMan · 61-69, M
it certainly can't hurt. when i had it last time, i took paxlovid, but didn't notice much change in my symptoms. i think it's to prevent it from getting worse, not necessarily relieve your current symptoms, but you might want to check that.

@boudinMan thank you
@boudinMan I believe you are correct.

It only works if you start it within the first 48-72 hours of onset of symptoms. I had a pretty mild case of COVID, but I took it as I have other co-morbidities. I did seem to test negative pretty quickly after starting it. My main issue was really bad GI problems from it. I wound up stopping it a day or so early, which you’re not supposed to do. I also had this bitter taste in my mouth the whole time I was on it too.
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@RockerDad I went and got it. Tok it about 3 hours ago but I taste the bitterness too.
RockerDad · M
@melissa001 yea couldn’t get rid of that taste

melissa001 · 51-55, F
@smiler2012 thank you.
I recommend anti-pyretics, clear fluids, NAC, Quercitin, Vitamin C & D. And. LOTS of sleep!
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@Guardian I'm over it, thanks

I tried that stuff, I would not do it unless you are at extreme risk because of a condition. It will stop the covid symptoms for a few days but I hated the side effects and the covid symptoms came back when the dose of Paxlovid was over. It does give your body a chance to mount a defense against covid while the symptoms are abated and that might be helpful to some people who have not been vaccinated.

Chicken soup and bed rest
If you're in a high risk group and the symptoms haven't started more than 5 days ago, that would be a good idea. I hope you'll feel better soon.
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@NerdyPotato if I can find someone to pick them up for me then I will. Thanks
doong · 56-60, M
I sincerely hope it is just a Flu so you can take care of it in a common flu way. Covid test is just as fake as Covid it self.
RockerDad · M
@doong you couldn’t be more wrong if you tried.
KunsanVeteran · 61-69, M
@doong Incorrect and the misinformation you spread could cause harm.
I'm not sure it is approved for felines...
@melissa001 Hmmm, well, if you are human, then it IS approved for some age groups of homo sapiens. I believe it is "right out" for both canis familiaris and felis domesticus...

And YES, speedy & FULL recovery.
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@SomeMichGuy lol. Thank you.
@melissa001 Are you sure you are not being held hostage by that cat?
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
Had it 4 times now and never have taken anything…
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@Quimliqer my brother had it 3 years ago and he was really bad off. Stayed in the hospital for 2 months. I can't be away from my house for a day. I have major panic attacks. And there's no one to watch my 2 dogs and 2 cats.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
@melissa001 I understand your anxiety!! Consult a doctor at the least.
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@Quimliqer I will thank you.
