Both are equally dangerous. My sister died from alcohol addiction and she had lung cancer
Nimbus · M
@Secretsmile AWww, I'm sorry to hear that.
Secretsmile · 51-55, F
@Nimbus thank you. She passed a few years ago 😔
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Secretsmile alcohol is also corrosive to the digestive system. Associated with stomach cancer in those who ingest it heavily.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
They are both bad in their own ways. Even sugar alcohols in fruit and veggies can be harmful to those who are sensitive to them. Tobacco is generally loaded with chemicals to get people hooked on their brands. With some brands like Marlboros it’s about the same as free-basing.
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti lol, that's 50% of the reason why I gave up both, too damn expensive.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Nimbus not just the price of them but also the health care costs, which are probably even more expensive in the long run.
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti Good point!
Smoking is more hazardous for your health but alcohol is more hazardous for the health of everyone else. The wider effects of alcohol include drink driving, domestic abuse and general drink fuelled violence.
Nimbus · M
@UBotMate That's a great point! 👍
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@UBotMate it is now that smoking has been banned in most public places. My ex was so selfish about smoking in front of others including children. He thought it was his right to do so because he bought the cigarettes and even in other people’s homes. When our friend’s little girl was hospitalized for breathing problems due to second-hand smoke her pediatrician told her mother not to let anyone smoke in the home from then on, even when the girl was not at home. So she made the rule and it offended my ex. He got angry and said he had a right to. I argued with him about it saying people have a right to make rules for their own homes and he doesn’t have to like it. He was so obnoxious about his smoking I ended up having to hire a lawyer and go to court for supervised visitation because he didn’t care if our daughter got sick from it. She’d come home from visitation with an ear, nose or throat infection any time she spent a weekend at his house, this was after he stopped dumping her off at his parents.

Booze.

People complain about the supposed effects of second hand smoke but alcohol can seriously affect not only the physical health of the imbiber but also the physical and mental health of dozens of people god forbid you decide to drive around zipped out of your mind on alcohol.
Nimbus · M
@Picklebobble2 True, I have witnessed that.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Picklebobble2 the social issues associated with alcohol abuse are terrible. Families can suffer, violence, they may lose a decent job etc. It can lead to ruin.
AbbeyRhode · F
Hard to say. The poisons from cigarettes damage not only the lungs, but the whole body. And alcohol affects the liver and brain, which impacts the rest of the body as well.
Nimbus · M
@AbbeyRhode As bad as each other then?
AbbeyRhode · F
@Nimbus Yep, both best avoided.
FreestyleArt · 36-40, M
Sugar snacks and soda.

Even though Alcohol is packed with lots of sugar. I usually water it down with peach tea
FreestyleArt · 36-40, M
@Nimbus no problems with alcohol or smoking cigars yet.
Askeladd · 31-35, M
@Nimbus No. Smoking is much worse than having a soda.
Nimbus · M
Just being negative and having the wrong people around you. Who I know that drink is still living and strong. The bar is his best friend
Nimbus · M
@Be4realbeyou Interesting point 👍
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I worked with a younger woman who prided herself on her trim figure & doing aerobics. She would lay in the sun and tan deeply, smoke and drink a lot of wine. She started aging badly, her skin wrinkling and age spots…….looks a lot older than her age. People who smoke, drink often and sunbathe are multiplying the effects of free radical damage. Exercise does not neutralize the free radical damage.
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti Good point 👍

Alcohol is worse. You can be a vegetable by age 35.
Nimbus · M
@SW-User That's a point!
shuhak · M
Smoking alcohol.
Nimbus · M
@shuhak That sounds an interesting combo :)

@Nimbus 🤔 any of them really nimby if abused too access sadly
Nimbus · M
@smiler2012 True 👍
Both are pretty bad for you
Atlotto · M
Smoking tobacco...I grew up on a farm and I've seen all the chemicals that were sprayed on the tobacco plants.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Atlotto not to mention the chemicals that are used in the making of cigarettes
Tobacco, it wrecks the entire airway, from the mouth to the lungs.
Nimbus · M
@NativePortlander1970 I'm glad I gave them up over 25 years ago!
