About once or twice a month

LemonWorld · F
How dare you call me out 😭

Tbh i just throw them away and buy a new one ,_, dont judge me 😭
itsok · 31-35, F
@LemonWorld I’m not one to judge, I promise. Winter before last I didn’t wash a single sock. I wore a new pair of socks every day for several months 😬 I blame it on depression

I never went through my entire list, but I do unfollow individuals when their posts no longer interest me or they post too much. In the latter case I rely on seeing some of their post through the groups I follow.
itsok · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato oh THOSE fans 😅
@NerdyPotato Had no idea what you were talking about. 😂😂😂😂😂
@itsok @Sojournersoul I may be spending too much time online and/or be too poor to keep up with physical technology 😅 I have no rotating fans in my home, so I never clean them, but that's not necessary either.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
I probably should lol after I clean up my room
itsok · 31-35, F
@deadgerbil I’ve been putting mine off for a month
fun4us2b · M
I guess once a year...when they start acting up I disassemble them and give them a good cleaning and put a little oil where needed to make them run smoothly - it's oddly satisfying...
fun4us2b · M
@itsok I don't use it in the hotter months because AC - so yes probably 3 months of use warrants a cleaning.
itsok · 31-35, F
@fun4us2b that makes sense. my fan is on constantly unless I’m on vacation
fun4us2b · M
@itsok I prefer a Fan over AC but it is way too humid during most of July and August here...

@ShenaniganF00die oh, those fans... 😳
itsok · 31-35, F
@ShenaniganF00die I have a ceiling fan in the bedroom I can stand on my bed to clean. I was thinking more like box fans
SW-User
If I had even a single fan, that would mean I'd have to dismember them to clean them. And then I wouldn't have any fans anymore, I'd just be in prison. And I don't want any of the sort of fans one gets in prison.
Ontheroad · M
I have one small portable fan I use to get more cold air into the master bedroom... sits in the doorway of the master. I clean it at the end of summer. Yeah, I know, it's funky and I should probably clean it more often, but since I use it only in the hottest part of summer, it never gets all that funky.
SW-User
Every Spring
Wolffy · 56-60, M
Off and on all the time because I have cats that are pets so in the spring in the summer and in the fall they like to shed so fans are kind of like a catch-all so you got to keep clean and oiled
Wolffy · 56-60, M
I heat with wood so wood burning stoves create dust and stuff and you got to keep that cleaned up
itsok · 31-35, F
@Wolffy i have two dogs and two birds. I have an air purifier, but my fan still gets pretty dirty.
Wolffy · 56-60, M
@itsok im sure understand there my cabin is 130 years old so it can be dusty at times
MellyMel22 · F
Not real often. I recently cleaned my bigger Vornado and it was a big pain in the *ss. Then when I was done I saw what looked like it wasn’t done and it took me hours to see some after that too 🤨🤣 I can laugh now that I’m done cleaning it with a box of and a big roll of paper towels 🤣
itsok · 31-35, F
@MellyMel22 those look harder to clean. I just took the front and back panels off my box fan and hosed them off outside and wiped down the blades
MellyMel22 · F
@itsok I was afraid I’d break mine doing that. It was like $100 when I got it. I managed to take it apart best it could be and used the kitchen sprayer and that’s what barely did anything, several times.

Did yours work well after that?
BlueVeins · 26-30
I've never done it lol, my fans are just disgusting. Now that you mention it though, I have a can of air, so I may as well just use that.
itsok · 31-35, F
@BlueVeins they work so much better when they’re clean and I hate seeing the dust buildup
BlueVeins · 26-30
@itsok OK I just did it and now the little wire frame is drying.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I have been doing it every 3 weeks ,because it's been so warm been on almost Non-Stop.
Usually, it's every 3 to 4 months.
tfan123 · 46-50, M
Ceiling fans? Hardly ever considering they are about 8-10 ft in the air and I’m just 6’2” tall. Now floor fans, if they have vibration warbling sounding, I will take them apart and clean the blades.
wackidywack · 26-30
after months, like 3 months tops or something
itsok · 31-35, F
@wackidywack I need to do mine at 3 months and then I put it off another month
wackidywack · 26-30
@itsok and another and another and another
SW-User
Once a mo. and also my air purifiers pre-filters
itsok · 31-35, F
@SW-User once a month is pretty good. Mine is like every 4 months. But I change the filters on the purifier when it alerts me. That’s like every 6 months or something
SW-User
@itsok Same for my filters on the air purifiers, but the pre-filters more often or they get too noisy.
SW-User
When it gets unbearably loud or stops working
itsok · 31-35, F
@SW-User let’s see your fan
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Less often than I should, maybe once a year.
SW-User
Never, when they stop working we buy a new one.
@itsok I don't like that they give me pink eye.
itsok · 31-35, F
@HootyTheNightOwl oh wow, I’ve never heard of that
@itsok I had heard of it before - but I always thought that they were shamming it... until it started to happen to me.

I want to try one of those Dyson air coolers now to see if they solve the problem for me or not.
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
Wait, what? 🤔😆
itsok · 31-35, F
@Ambroseguy80 you’ve never cleaned a fan?
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@itsok hmmm. I won’t say never. But with my luck I would break something and not be able to put it together again. 😆
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Once a year. Ceiling fans twice a year.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Every 2 weeks
itsok · 31-35, F
@Thevy29 I’m impressed
SW-User
Never. I just use a wet wipe to clean them
Monthly once
3-4 months

I've made a jig to clean them
@itsokcheck 📩
raqqq · 22-25, F
Cleaning a fan? This isn't something people do physically so must be some kind of euphemism, right? Just can't figure it out.
itsok · 31-35, F
@raqqq are you cleaning your fan mentally?

itsok · 31-35, F
@raqqq of course :)
NEVER! I don't have any fans! Unless your'e one?
itsok · 31-35, F
@Guardian living in SILENCE?!
I have fans ??
itsok · 31-35, F
@BiasForAction no this was for everyone else
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
Er...well, the ceiling fan about once a month. The fan fan, not enough?
itsok · 31-35, F
@basilfawlty89 I just took mine apart and hosed it off. I wait too long
I sadly only do about every 4 to 5 months. They are dusty
itsok · 31-35, F
@Bexsy mine ends up being every 4 months, but I always notice it at 3 months and then remind myself it needs to be done for a month
Used to be once a month but now I don’t do it at all cause I got a new fan and I can’t figure out how to open the damn thing so I just wipe it with a cloth lol
itsok · 31-35, F
@Wallflow3r if you can’t see the dust, then it basically doesn’t exist
Bang5luts · M
I Don't not very often
Bang5luts · M
I don't have ceiling fans though
itsok · 31-35, F
@Bang5luts I was thinking like box fans and standing fans
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
Every few months
MethDozer · M
Once a year. Maybe twice
