May I know how old is your friend's sister?
swandfriends · 41-45, F
She's like 53 I think, but looks 10 years younger than that. Her teeth weren't bad either. I like the way she looked before

SW-User
Are you sure she got all her teeth pulled out or she got veneers? Because no sane doctor would do that without a valid reason, at least not where I live.

@SW-User yes, every one of them. She said she wasn't told an option of maybe getting a partial. I was wondering why she didn't think of that herself first. Her teeth weren't even all that bad

SW-User
No but I know someone that did that, I’ll never understand it. 😬

@OlgaAlexeenko And her teeth were healthy when she decided to pull all of them out?

Some people have a certain mental disorder I can't remember the name of. It's where they feel like a certain part of their body doesn't belong there or should be altered or not used. I think it's called body dismorphia or something. I worked with a lady who shaved her eyebrows. I saw a documentary once of a lady that felt like she was supposed to be crippled and not use her legs. She even wanted to have a surgery to where she wouldn't be able to walk. She was able to walk, but it seemed foreign to her. She lived her live as a wheelchair bound person when she was perfectly able
I'm not best placed to judge anyone's illnesses.

That's insane

No. I like having real teeth.

SW-User
That has to be some kind of dysmorphia. It is an extreme reaction.

🤦♂️ huge mistake

SW-User
Damn that’s crazy
I had an elderly coworker at at restaurant in the late 90's when she turned 18 she had all her pulled, she told me her family had a history of bad teeth, she never regretted it.

Some people can do very well with dentures, even when they had their teeth pilled when they were very young. A lot of it depends on the skill of the dentist in making the dentures and the attitude of the person who has become toothless. @NativePortlander1970]
@Corsair My oldest brother got dentures in 2011, whoever he went to did a piss poor job, nobody can hardly understand him when they're in, the same with the actor, Jeff Bridges.

@NativePortlander1970 That goes to my comment that it depends on the skill of the dentist. Also, it depends on the attitude of the person who has become toothless. It takes patience, practice, and persistence to be a successful denture wearer. It doesn't happen overnight.
