Is "earthing"a legitimate condition?

I've been reading about something that barefooters and advocates of walking barefoot have been proposing:the concept of "earthing".According to what I've read,they claim that walking around with shoes all of the time and being around electrical-power technology causes an excess of positive ions to accumulate in your body-much more so than is healthy.They say that when you habitually go barefoot, particularly when you walk on soft grass,it causes the excess of positive ions to flow back into the earth and put negative ions into your body.This is supposed to lead to a better mental state and cause you to be less stressed and more relaxed.This there any truth to this,or is it just quackery?

Most likely quackery by someone trying to sell something based on half-, and faultily-, remembered bits of school science lessons.

Effectively they are saying you become charged with static electricity, but I don't believe that.

Wandering barefoot around the greensward may be relaxing, but doesn't need that sort of cod-physics from wth.homehyphochondria-dot-com. Just don't tread on a thistle.

Quackery. I go barefoot all the time and enjoy the variety of tactile experiences. But without wishing to be negative, im positive that ion transfer is not the explanation of how good it feels to lead a barefoot life.

No, this all falls apart at the slightest bit of scepticism. They use scientific words to justify nonsense. If walking around barefoot makes you feel good, go for it. It's not going to cleanse your thetans though.

I don't think there is any scientific basis for those claims. But going barefoot can help with balance, strengthen arches, boost immunity, and generally make you feel more cheerful 😊
