Okay, seriously?!?

I just called my dad's primary care office to try to get a scheduling screw up fixed, and they're closed in honor of the holiday.

Is that seriously the best way to observe MLK Day? Shut down a medical office? What the fuсk? Hell, why don't we shut down all medical stuff for the holiday? Heck, give all the cops around the country the day off, and the fire department. Just shut down everything people need to survive. That's what Martin Luther King, Jr. would have wanted, right?

Let's stay open at Christmas, then. And Veteran's Day. And Memorial and Labor Day. The 4th. I know, let's never give anyone a break so they can all be on call for your needs. Restaurants, too. And tourist tee shops. Definitely gas stations.

My doctor closes early on Saturdays. Knowing that, I plan accordingly. Emergencies go to an entirely different place. There are always police and fire on call, always EMS, always the ER. And there are answering services, on-call physicians, nurse banks...

I agree certain services shouldn't be closed on the holidays
