Do you know why you can't stop drinking?

Because you think you don't have the willpower to stop drinking. You think alcohol has power over you, instead of the other way around.

I thought the same way, when I had an eating disorder and addiction for like 40 years. I asked God to help me break this addiction, and to tell me how to do it.

The solution was very simple and one I had not even thought about, but God was right. The answer was so simple, I had overlooked it.

God helped me realize that I was the one who actually had power over my addiction, not the other way around. I did what He told me and it turned my life completely around, and got me over the addiction. I never had the desire to overeat again, because I realized it was I, who had the power over my addiction.

Your addiction has no power, unless you give it power. Here's the solution:

It's so simple, don't miss it. God gave us a conscience so that we would know right from wrong and in that way, we can control what goes on in our lives.

Do you know right from wrong? Of course you do and that is your power, right there, because when challenges come to us, we just turn on that power and decide what is the right choice. You ask yourself every time, is this the right thing to do, to take a drink or get drunk? You conclude it is not, and it's not worth giving your power away to. You definitely are in charge now, by knowing right from wrong, then making the right decision. That is your power over your addiction. You have a mind of your own. You do not have to do anything that is not right for you.

Ask yourself, is this what I really want in my life? Is it the right thing to do, to take this drink? No. Now you're back in power over your addiction. Make that decision to refuse it, and the addiction goes away immediately, just knowing it's your decision alone, alcohol cannot force you to take another drink again. You know right from wrong, so exercise that in your daily life. It's a very simple solution, but it works, and that's what we want, to take our life back and our power. Now you know how. Nothing and no one, can force you to do anything you don't want to do.

This one seems to be the very best and I'm passing it on to you from those who have tried it. Two testimonials.

Dihydromyricetin is a highly effective cure for alcoholism. It's particularly promising for those with anxiety disorders. Also known as DHM, Hovenia Sulcus Extract, and Oriental/Japanese Raisin Tree, this supplement is widely available. While seeming a bit pricey at around $20/bottle it can stop daily drinking in its tracks, costing far less per day than even the cheapest alcohol for a regular drinker. There is so feeling of intoxication, just relief from withdrawal, anxiety, and the urge to drink.

Experiment with the dosage, 1600 mg is a good starting place in my experience. I could sing the praises of this stuff all day, but these pages say it better:

https://news.usc.edu/166789/hangover-remedy-dhm-liver-protection-usc-study/

https://researchoutreach.org/articles/dihydromyricetin-shows-promise-anxiety-disorder-treatment/amp/

Good luck to you!

Next:

DHM works very well! I take it every night after I drink alcohol, usually right before bed, and have for over a year now. I buy it on Amazon, the bulk 100 gram bag of powder for $40, and then make my own 1 gram capsules. I take about 1 gram per drink I want to eliminate from my system. The typical pre-made capsules sold are not only expensive but I don't believe the dose is high enough. Not for me anyway. It absolutely does help sober me up quick and completely eliminates a typical hangover, including relief from the anxiety. If you take it before drinking, the alcohol will not be nearly as effective, which can help you lose interest in drinking more.

If you are trying to cut back or quit, definitely give this a try. I've noticed my health improve slowly, especially with skin and memory issues. Even if you aren't quitting or cutting back just yet, it will lessen the damage your poor liver has been enduring for so long. It has many anticancer properties as well. So far studies have found no negative side effects and I definitely tried my best to research risks since I take it so much. If that ever changes I'd love to know. Overall, it's the most effective product I have ever taken to counteract the effects of alcohol. Definitely add it to your arsenal. I also just got tested and discovered I'm B12 deficient... and that could not only be because of drinking, but also causing me to crave it more. Keep fighting the good fight!

If you find the right counselor it can be a real game changer.
The only thing I think that would be helpful for you at this point is that you really need to feel connected to your counselor.
Counselors are people too and we don't all mesh with one another.
If you don't feel a connection after three or four visits try to not feel funny asking to try another one.
I myself lucked out with the first one I had.
She is an amazing person to have in my corner.
Good luck with this.

@Dainbramadge Number one determining factor of success in CBT: The rapport established with the therapist/counselor.

This is so, so true. If you can't find someone you like, keep going.

@Graylight very good advice. 👍 🤗

Here's another from the health site.

Alcoholism: Changed my body chemistry and followed an anti-yeast diet.. Since I have elimanted yeast, sugar all processed foods, I no longer have the cravings to drink alcohol. I have been on this diet now for 3 years..my family is so proud of me.I don't fight the urge anymore and is the most Wonderful feeling. I almost use to faint going by the beer & wine section in the grocery store. My husband has been able to have a full bar in our house for the first time in 25 years and I don't think about drinking anymore. I forget it is even in the house. At first it is hard to retrain your eating habits but it can be done. I have Candida Albicans, and cleaning out all of your insides can take years. I have done 15 Liver flushes and have removed liver flukes and thousands of stones.. Got this info from Dr. Hulda Clark.. I drank for more than 20 years, and I can tell you how happy I am to know that the food I was eating was the cause of my addiction and just stopping the food with chemicals from going into my body has saved my life!

This guy said the following is a miracle worker. Here's what he said:

The Vitamin Cure for Alcoholism: How to Protect Against and Fight Alcoholism Using Nutrition and Vitamin Supplementation"

To make things short these are the supplements suggested in the book:

B vitamins complex - plus B3 niacin 3,000 mg
Chromium
vitamin C 2,000 mg
lecithin
amino acid L-glutamine

This is someone else's testimony but thought you might want to look at it . Look up the Sinclair method. There are videos at youtube. Naltrexone is the medication. It can be bought on internet. It is saving lives! God Bless, Good Luck!

And then this one: Try L-glutamine, vitamin c, kudzu, lobelia, amino acids. Read The Vitamin Cure for Alcoholism.
good .. first step is seeing the problem.. one day at a time.mark

It’ll be a journey. A hard one that’ll try to discourage you and trick you into taking detours straying from your goal because it would be “easier” to swing back around then to keep going forward. But it looks like you’ve reached your enough moment, man. And that right there is a feat in itself. You’re choosing a change. That takes a ton of strength so lean on it anytime you feel weakened due to this decision. Your strength and inner love are both proving to you that they not only exist, but that they’re ready to fight this battle with you.

You can do this. You can do it for yourself. You can do it for your loved ones. You can do it for the amazing people and incredible experiences still waiting to reach you. You’ve taken the first step in giving yourself the chance to see how long that awesome list is. I’m proud of you.

We're all here for you, my friend. 😘

First, never underestimate the character and grace knowing oneself and being willing to change requires. Well done.

Be gentle with yourself, offer yourself the same encouragement, comfort and respect you'd offer another. Sometimes we look around us and we realize the closet has gotten a lot more unmanageable than we though it had and it threatens to overwhelm us with the work it takes to organize everything. But just like cleaning out the impossible closet, it starts with grabbing the first falling item and starting there.

Good luck, Montanaman, and I've no doubt you'll fare well. You're one of the good ones here, despite our locking horns from time to time. Be well and know you've got a cheer section.

Just a thought, but are there prescription drugs to assist in breaking excessive drinking/alcoholism.

I mention this because they do really help people break free from smoking addiction. I'mm using myself as proof that they help.

I doubt that drugs alone can break an addiction, but as part of a plan to quit smoking they have been statistically shown to increase the chances of success. It's not like someone takes a pill and stops smoking, but more like it helps put one in better control over a compulsive behavior.

Just a thought.

There's always a shoulder if you need one. You got this. If not, we got you.
Yep...find that counselor. You're going in the right direction.
Ontheroad · M
Stick with it - you need you healthy and so does the family. First though, do it for yourself. Hang in there and if the counselor you get doesn't "mesh' with you, don't hesitate to ask to see someone else.

Be proud of yourself - it takes a strong person to face his fears and problems.
Aweeee i get to see you :) im proud
