Pressing too hard at temple

My chiropractor is good, and they have been slowly realigning my jaw. Today, they went to press on my temple (they have only done it couple other times). But it felt too hard, it began to hurt...it has hurt a bit before when they pressed On it but last time they only did it a few seconds. This was longer, so i had to say, despite being shy, ohh that kinda hurts and is tender. And they said , yes..and they stopped a couple seconds after. I read online damage can be done to head with brain bleed if the artery under temple is hit hard, but would it be injured from pressing too hard? Last couple times they pressed a bit hard but stopped sooner...idk I overthink a lot but made me little nervous.
I generally apply a lot of pressure to the temple region of my head for extended periods of time during a neuralgia flare up.

As yet, I haven't managed to damage any of the nerves or arteries in that area of my face yet.

What might be important for you to remember is that these people are trained professionals - and it's more than their job is worth to leave you with this sort of injury.

They will know exactly where to avoid applying pressure if they wish to avoid this type of injury to you.

I'd talk to them about it, especially if it makes you uncomfortable. It's not at all unreasonable to have an explanation about your treatment

@JohnnyNoir I may just say," Can we not do the temple area from here forward?" Im sure it will be fine, but man it was a lot of pressure there and it hurt. I hate speaking up, ughhh. But its not the end of the world if we skip that area. Thanks again 🌻

@Coralmist don't be scared to speak up.

I read the title and briefly thought you were Jewish.

A big disclaimer that I'm no doctor, I do not have medical education, this is purely my previous knowledge and my own understanding from information found online and knowledge of . If you are unsure, talk to them about it.

That said, as far as I've understood it takes a fair bit more than that. When you've read about it and they say "hit hard", that's exactly what they mean. While not the strongest part of the skull, they'd still normally need to actually fracture the bone in order to cause that damage, and bones can usually take quite a bit of pressure. So personally I don't think there is any real chance of that happening when they apply pressure like that.

Still, if it is that uncomfortable to you, talk to them about it. If you feel it is too much, tell them you feel that it is, that it is uncomfortable to you and that you don't want them to do it.

@PirateMonkeyCabinet Thanks Pirate..it just felt so tender and painful while they did it...They are good to me in treatment but I dont think they realized how much pressure was applied. Yes you are right, it said if you are hit hard at the temple, it can possibly rupture artery. And can be fatal. So me having anxiety, Im like oh man I hope that pressure didnt cause any harm..but it would prolly have to be quite a bit of force to rupture th a t. Ty again.

@Coralmist It is essentially one of those spots that are technically weaker than the areas around it, but as said, it is still bone it has to go through so it seems rather unlikely for them to do that. I don't think there is anything to worry about there. But yeah, the temple can certainly feel tender and painful when put under pressure.

Even if it is likely not dangerous what they are doing, we all have our limits to how much we can take before it becomes too much pain and discomfort. In order to do treatments some degree of pain is likely needed, but if that goes beyond the limits of what you can take then talking to them is probably wise.
