Asking my mother if she wanted to be resuscitated if she flat lined at the nursing home. She said no and signed their papers. She was gone less than two weeks later.

@PatKirby My parents both had that the last 20 years or so. CPR is very traumatic and often leaves broken bones

@PatKirby They signed it themselves when they were still going alright. But it was in big letters on the refrig DNR

Do not resuscitate, I will always remember those words. I learned a life lesson from my mother regarding this decision and have chosen it for myself. She worked in the medical industry for 39 years, several of which were spent helping others pass on herself. I was lucky to learn about human behavior from her. How did your family handle it?

@PatKirby Everyone understood and none of us want to be kept alive artificially. It was many years before any of that came to pass.
My mom was dead set against it. The aunt who raised her had a long, grim struggle at the end and she wanted no part of that
