People sometimes ask me if I ever get tired of having long hair in the Summer

My answer I always never. Our hair is sacred in my culture. I’d sooner pass out from having my hot, thick head of hair than ever cut it just for a temporary relief.

I read a study in the past about native scouts losing their intuitive skills after having their haircuts.

An ex-friend of mine was trying to link that to an evolutionary ability of bees, detecting threat through the vibration in the air..Using their hair. Compared humans to that.

Not sure how his research went. I just thought it's pretty interesting.

I too feel very attached to my hair.

Cool.

While it's not a cultural thing with me I'm not likely to cut my hair either.

Specific reasons why I haven't cut my hair since before 2000.

And I basically live in a desert community. With temperatures up to 115°f.

I think that's beautiful. 🌺 I so didnt want to cut my hair this summer, but its so humid in MA sometimes, I chopped off four inches lol. But its already growing each month a bit. It does feel lighter. Do you do light trims, or never cut it?
@Coralmist I never cut it. I used to trim it, but I learned there’s a point where my gets so long, it will fall off naturally. It doesn’t need to be trimmed.

Coming from Asia where it is very hot I honestly don't feel particularly hotter because of my long hair. If I do I could always tie it up.

Yea long hair does not make you hot. I don't get why people think that by having short hair you will be so much cooler?
The sun burns your scalp and neck.
