Anyone else here have any tips on building a gym at home??

I love working out, but I HATE making the commute...so was thinking of taking the plunge and buying a bunch of equipment. Any thoughts on where to start???

A few assorted dumbells. A set of resistance bands. A mat.
That would be low cost and provide a good assortment for toning.
Lots of YouTube videos to choose from for cardio exercise.

Add on from there.

I guess a bit of a dumbbell rack, some dumbbells, obviously, or resistance bands....and a bit of floor.

Getting a little bit 'out there' and abstract, my fella sorted out a permanent pole, in the garage, for pole dancing, which is a fantabulous way to keep fit....not just trowing yourself around a pole, dancing wise....there can be a lot to it....as seen below. The Pole itself cost a few hundred £'s, but after that it pays for itself....and you can get ones that are removeable but very stable....

...anyways....watch the vid...

@HotPizza71 I could, sweetie....but I wouldn't! *Giggles*

Way to self-conscience of what they call good form out there for all to see....Everyone's a critic...

@CassandraSissy I'd not be complaining 😜

Machines take up a lot of space and make a lot of noise. Dumbbells and a mat are all you need.

i started with weights and a yoga mat.
after that some cardio machines like a treadmill or exercise bike and yet kept expanding from there. Depends i guess on what type of workouts you prefer

I have some weights, an exercise bike, a mini trampoline, and a punching bag, all in my bedroom. But I like going to the gym better- can’t get motivated to workout at home.

Depends if you want to lift weights or do mostly cardio

you can find used gym equipment on craigslist and facebook marketplace

You can get a lot done with dumbbells, resistance bands and either a treadmill or stationary bike. A bench isn't the worst idea either.

a tread mill. walk, dont run.
some light bar bells 5, 10 and 15 lbs
a chin up bar

that is enough for like 90%
Don’t do it. You’ll end up using it just to hang your wet laundry on to dry

lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
yeah sure. start out with an assortment of dumbbells and an adjustable bench. then maybe later you can get a barbell.

A treadmill or a bike depends what you usually use at the gym and what you need a gym for
MonaReeves86 · 36-40, F
We made a home gym none used it except my brother now none uses it
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Wholly depends on what you're training for.
