These teens are lucky I feel bad for them

While working one time, I was on my way back from Tucson when I saw a girl who looked no older than 15 hitchhiking along a section of the highway that was in the middle of the desert. I hate to see people stranded in the desert, especially someone so young, so I picked her up. She said she was going northwest toward Nevada and even though she couldn't pay for a fare, I figured I can give her a free ride until I have to turn since I was heading north myself anyway. When it came time for me to change direction, I told her that was where we had to part ways because I have to pick up another passenger. She was all "Can you take me just a little further, please?" I wanted to tell her no and that she had to get out soon, but I couldn't bring myself to do it... I said "I shouldn't, but fine." I found another route that was some several miles north before I had to turn. She was thankful anyway. I tried not to ask too many questions about why a girl her age was on the road and why she was leaving the state. I just hope she found her way safely.
