The volume at the pyjama party got progressively louder . .

At around 9.30pm one of the girls appeared slightly tearful at the living room door. She is one of the quietest, shyest girls you could imagine. Not a natural match for my extrovert daughter, but she picks her friends carefully and not without good reason. I had a quiet word with my daughter, suggested they might pick a calmer activity that her guest could join in with more comfortably. The rest of the evening passed without incident. I checked their room at 11.30pm and all four girls were peacefully slumbering 😌 The downside was that they started again at 6.30am, but everyone seemed happy and no one had to go home early. When the last guest had left I asked my daughter if I'd spoiled things by asking them to be quieter. No, she replied, but the whole party would have been spoiled if S had become really upset and had to go home early 🤗

She says all this with complete earnestness and honesty. I love her so much. Imagine if everyone could change tack at the drop of a hat, just to make others feel included. We might even make progress! 😊

The importance of caring about others. You are teaching her well. 🙂

@OlderSometimesWiser We've only recently adopted her, so I can't claim too much credit. She has a natural empathy and sense of justice that I can't stop admiring 😊
