Is being popular in highschool overrated?

My teenage cousin asked me for advice because he wanted to be popular at first but then he fell for an unpopular girl.

When I started out as a freshman in high school, many of the popular kids who were with me in jr. high, wanted to know who the popular kids in high school were. As for me, I was more concerned about my classes.

I think so though I just had my group of friends and I wasn’t picked on. I was mostly just invisible.

Yes it’s overrated and it comes with its own set of problems

@Jenny1234 My cousin's crush gets mocked a lot according to him.

Popular will at minimum boost confidence so no harm there

I think so, Once high school is over you have the rest of your life.

Everyone knew who I was since I was on the baseball team but I was too introverted to be popular. I had no interest in that anyway - just stuck with decent sized group of friends
