Are we too busy to take the time out to care for our teenagers' emotional needs? Far too many teenagers are living in despair. I don't blame Salvador

Ramos; I blame America. You people created this.

I agree completely, but more specifically than teenagers, young men in general. The world just ignores and avoids them and then we act shocked and horrified when they have emotional problems and grow to hate the world around them.

Even if it isn't about gun violence, look at crime figures, substance abuse, suicide rates, and online radicalization. It's mostly men, and in particular young men.

Empathy is a muscle, and if it isn't worked out then it atrophies. We gotta find a way to make these men care about the world around them, and the first place to start would be to show that the world cares about them.
@TinyViolins The world is a cruel place. It demands that you adhere to a set of standards and if you refuse or can't, you're an outcast. You can't even be yourself anymore. Individuality and self-determination are gone! Society has become so materialistic and so superficial. All of these teenagers have phones these days and in some of these bourgie communities, if you don't have the latest iphone, it's like you're considered low status. Where did teenagers learn this elitist behavior? From their elitist f***ed parents.

@RocktheHouse Crueler for some than for others. I believe a lot of mass shooters realize this and target the innocent in order to feel like they're levelling the playing field

So many parents give up way too easily on their kids. Instead of getting them help they kick them out or send them off to live with relatives etc. Doesn’t solve the problem. Just moved it to a different location. Parents need to wake up

There’s never any excuse for a shooting or killing but it sounds like his mother was a loser since she pawned him off on her parents. Apparently she preferred drugs to her kid. Grandparents have to raise him and obviously didn’t even do a good job with their daughter so how can they be expected to do a better job with him. Where tf was his dad. Kid was fooking angry at the world
@Jenny1234 That's exactly my sentiments. I'm not at all suggesting the shooter had any excuse. I can't imagine what those parents are feeling. Just looking at this kid and I can tell he's depressed. He looks depressed in his photos. Probably contemplating suicide for weeks with absolutely no one to confide in, not even his own parents.

I blame the kid. I blame his drug addicted mother. I blame anyone close to him but I had no contact with this loser. I’m not to blame and neither is the bulk of the country.

You can’t blame people who had no knowledge of this jerk.

You mean the government and media? It was in fact intentional
