You can tell the difference because of how men and women communicate. Men are more goal oriented and competitive where women are more focused on emotion and connection. That's more noticable than pictures. Women might use fake pictures because they are not confident with sending the real pictures of themselves but they still want you to find them attractive.

Just assume everyone is a catfish till you get to know them. A catfish is gone in a week or so. A real person is here for the long haul.

Another thing that is a dead give away. Go look at profiles - if they blank, have no questions posted and never seem be here, but once in a great while. Its either a alt profile or a catfish.

I once had an account with a site (called 'GirlsAskGuys', I think it's dead now) where it was rumoured there were women posing as men. Does that happen here? Does it happen at all?

I would say close to half the female accounts here are guys pretending to be women.
