The 32nd President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945) gave this observation

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

If you fear fear, then didn't fear win out? Shouldn't the goal to be not fearful and in that we need a solid basis to stand upon, something fear cannot touch wether it is because we are in a position of authority or power over that fear. I think the goal is to find the authority within us, or outside of us, that makes fear lost its power over us.

@nonsensiclesnail This is only part of a speech but what you said was precisely Roosevelt's message. We have nothing to fear but fear itself. We can not and should not allow fear to control us.
