Why aren't we allowed to call insane people nutters on this site?

I have seen a few hidden comments with that word in them. I take it it is no longer politically correct to use that word. Am I right?

Best not to call anyone anything these days.

@Darksideinthenight2 That proves you are deliberately trolling. Blocked.

@KarenisKenziesmum
How did it get like this?
The liberal media has made being 'judgmental' the crime of the century. If you don't use your rights, you will lose them. This is just the start.
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
@NoThanksLeon Where I come from, normal people are judgmental to some degree.
@KarenisKenziesmum It's how we prevent making mistakes.

I work with people with severe learning disabilities in England. These people already have hard lives and live with the stigma of being labelled because of their disability and even ridiculed in the street for it. Society is slowly trying to erase that stigma and allow people with disabilities to be treated fairly and without having to put up with abuse (and they ARE still abused badly). They're called nutters, loonys r****ds, spaz, and laughed at. This can really bring them down and hurts them significantly. It makes their lives even harder.

Stopping the use of such words isn't woke or politically correct (words like woke are themselves terms of ridicule and disdain, designed to continue the status quo). Stopping the blithe use of such derogatory slang words like "nutters" is just common decency and an attempt to simply let these people live their lives without being ridiculed, which I think you'll agree is a good thing.

Okay so I've heard the term, "gypsy", and I've heard it in reference to mostly women who steal and who are con-artists, who try to trick you/thievery and they're mysterious, they lie about who they are and etc. etc. Anyway.... I was telling a story to a coworker and I mentioned the word. They said the word gypsy is derogatory. I said, how so? What word are you supposed to use because I've always taken it as gypsy explain a certain kind of person, and I've heard that term for years and years and never once heard anyone say it's a derogatory term.

That would be like saying, those men on the side of the street with ratty clothes are homeless, and then saying the word homeless is derogatory, then how would you explain how someone is homeless? That's what I was trying to make the point of in the conversation. Gypsy explains a certain kind of person, as does homeless. They said what the other word to use is but I forgot because to me gypsy is the word you use to explain a certain kind of person.

Ohhhh now I remember while typing this all up, another co-worker and their mom were both working at the place I do, but then quit. But the way they acted, they would lie about stuff, things would go disappearing and never show up again, I said they are gypsy's and I was told that is a derogatory term. No, it's not. And I don't really care what the "politically correct" term is.

Call people what you like why should we be told to say what others want us to say
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
@Houdini Good point, but MrDavidson's answer hit the nail on the head.
Houdini · 56-60, M
@KarenisKenziesmum sorry but I say what I like I’m not being told what I can say.
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
@Houdini Where did I tell you what you can or cannot say? I said you made a good point, didn't I?
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
I'm insane and you can call me any names under the sun and I'm ok because I know I'm not 'normal'. I'm supposed to be neuro-divergent aka have autism aka aspergers aka ASD because I don't fit into normal society very well, have lots of trouble with making friends, dating, relationships, sex, etc. and am socially extremely phobic.

Maybe they think you’re referring to a pair of nuts? 😂
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
@Ambroseguy80 Lol :)
We're all nuts here.
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@EarthlingWise Some of us are deep-thinking open-minded nuts who are not as silly as those who blindly follow the 'herd mentality' of society . lol
@zonavar68 That's right. High five!
The site has started hiding all posts that insult, from what I’ve seen.
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
@bijouxbroussard I suppose that's not a bad thing.
MartinII · 70-79, M
I don't think you would be sanctioned for using the word "nutter". But there is no way of guessing whether someone is insane from what they post on a site like this. People you think are insane are probably just people you disagree with.
Because this site is toxic positive.
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
@NoThanksLeon That's an oxymoron if ever there was one.
@KarenisKenziesmum Be that as it may, it is still true.
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
@NoThanksLeon I like the phrase "Be that as it may".
RedBaron · M
Because I only answer to Nutcase or Nutjob. 🤣🤣
Barebum61 · 61-69, M
