Knock and run posts

Am I the only one who constantly sees posts written by people (sometimes recorded as hours ago) who when you click on their profile you see this:

Like really? Is post and run a new trend I’m not aware of? 🧐

I do see that some of it might be

1) People who are having mental health issues posting and than checking out,after posting but will check in later . actually the number of people on here with mental health issues is astounding.

2) sock puppets / people with more than one account . That one i am not positive if it is accurate. . Sometimes It is hard to now if an account is a sock puppet as a user. People who do sock puppet on here though know that people will look at their sock puppet profile which is usually bare bones. However if they can "take a breatk" can keep people from doing that.

@GypsyMiss nice to meet you!

you will see sock puppets mostly on political forums and sections. Somebody makes usuallly, an outrageous, post logs, out and logs in with their sock puppet to agree with the opening post.

However on here, there was a thread asking if users have more than one account, which is very similar to the sock puppet idea. A lot of the posters said yes. Oh wait on the admin forum asking if the users wanted anonymous posts.

I think that mostly they are dealing with an emotional/psychological moment (hour/week/month) and need a break, but at the same time, don't want the rest of us thinking something horrid has happened to them... that and sometimes I think it's a not so silent call for help.

It does seem to be on the increase! The other thing which amazes me is when someone in the current users list has already been banned......
That happens a lot indeed. Often that break only lasts a few hours though. It makes me wonder why they wouldn't just log out instead of going through that whole 10 step leaving process for such a short time, but I assume they have their reasons.

I thought knock and run meant people who knock on your front door then run and hide (to do it again) or just keep walking from house to house doing it to annoy the neighbourhood.

That’s a sign of attention seeking women. They deactivate and reactivate their accounts all the time.

@SW-User it's nuts.

They're secretly trying to make YOU take a break?
I also get that sometimes
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
I thought it was because they don't want you lurking on their profile

Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
