I would have to compare it with EP. That was some fine site. SW is a smaller version. Not as much fun. More superficiality. I block when I get tired of the same porn-addicted people in my feed. Few here post poetry or thoughtful, interesting stories or comments. The longer versions here come from whiney, depressed people. I get that people need to vent and that online is convenient and handy and fast, but there is a limit to it. If someone is always posting the same dark, dreary, or hateful comments, then that's a no go for me. I do not have much time to spend here. So I tend to look up my inner circle. They are who I choose to spend my time with. They write the best too. And I pick up their messages to me as well. I do not care to speculate why people block fast. It is not my business. Again, I have a life that keeps me busy. Do you? You needn't answer. I know.

I started out with a no-block policy, but soon enough, it was clear that had to change. Perverts, the willfully ignorant, pedophiles, trolls that couldn't help but make ugly remarks, and a few others were just more than I was willing to deal with.

Still, I went for an extended period of time without blocking more than five or six, but recently that list has grown... and grown, and grown.

@Ontheroad Yep. I'm sure Gandhi would have blocked people on here.
I, no more, pout on getting blocked.

I liked their posts and their blocking me doesn't mean I stopped liking their posts though I can no more read them.
But life doesn't end. Just petty stuff does.
All's good till I am okay with myself.
For the longest time I hadn’t had the experience of being blocked by anyone with whom I was consistently friendly. But in the last couple of months it happened with three different posters. And no comment beforehand—just gone, which hurt, Damnit ! So I’m saving my affection for the friends who have hung in there with me over the years. You know who you are. 🥺
@bijouxbroussard this happened to me about 3/4 years ago and right when i was going through some close personal bereavements. It did hurt and one has come back now but it led to me creating some distance in all my connectiins. I think it may happen at anytime and i just need to preserve my well being.

I am close to a few but i will no longer entwine my life with theirs.

Big hugs BB, you deserve better

People that block for no good reason aren’t worth anyone’s time here. They are very picky and arrogant in my opinion. The popular women here are notorious for blocking and that’s because their followers give them too much support that they don’t even deserve. I do not respect backstabbing people that are telling me that they are a friend and the next day I’m blocked. Sadly the constant blocking is what’s making the site boring. If they didn’t obsess with the blocking then they would have more people to interact with. They are just dumb dumb.

@SW-User Well said.

@uncalled4 thank you
the beginning of this place was fun. But now, i feel like being in a party uninvited.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@neurodivirgin I still think that SW is a place where one fits in by NOT fitting in.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
I only block when people are consistently abusive or clearly trolling.
I quite like the idea of their commentary being available for all to see because it exposes their thinking and behaviour.
However I'm starting to despair at the 20-30 age range since many seem to be opinionated on certain issues but with no capability to explain where they get that opinion from nor why they keep it.

@uncalled4 🤔sadly a lot seem too appear to let there sensibilty be offended at a drop of a hat by minor things . i have been saying this for long enough but we have a lot delicate wallflowers on similiar worlds who take offence to easily . do not get me wrong we do our share of obnoxious arseholes on similar worlds and those people should be blocked

I used to feel like an outsider at the beginning. Like someone who intrudes some sort of community where most people seemed to know each other and I was "who tf are you?". I don't feel that way anymore, now I feel more like a part of this place.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@CrazyMusicLover Strangely, I agree.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
I personally miss the loss of long form Internet personal expression, blogs etc. Here it had followed the twitter trend so everything has to be a soundbite with all the depth, nuance etc extracted and lost.
SW is for fun and conversation, It's not a sacred trust.

I would not block a friend without explaining it. Otherwise if a person interferes with the SW scenario I prefer, I block.
darkmere1983 · 46-50, M
i still have no one blocked, i have muted some instead.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@darkmere1983 That definitely helps. I have no idea what the "partial" mute modes are for; doesn't make sense to me, but to not see threads begun by some of these people is good.

Very much so. It's all affected how and what I post as well, and the lack of.

Btw, people do change, you can think highly of someone on here and then they do something to show you their true colours

There's no turning back then

@Lilnonames I would think it's usually not easy to know if someone on here is a colored person or not.

@familyfunguy you earned a block for your rascist comment
