Why would someone insist that "alot" is a word and call me a dummy for saying it isn't?

Furthermore, why would this person block me for telling the truth about it? If I am wrong, please tell me which dictionary lists "alot" as a word.

I got called an idiot because I said the technically, Canadians are Americans since we live in the Americas. Although culturally we don't speak that way, it remains technically true.

She refused to believe that.

@JimboSaturn But the USA remains the only nation with the word "America" in its name. Personally, I believe we should get rid of that whole technical quibble and admit we all live in Vespucciland, North, South, and Central.

@JimboSaturn I don't call Canada America, I call it Canada. But I'm not getting into an argument about that.

@Bewilderbeeste I don't call it America either, but my point is that technically we could call ourselves american since Canada is in North America.
