anybody speak multiple languages that are similar

Spanish and Portuguese are written/ spoken similar. it trips me out Sometimes. People are talking to me in Portuguese then I reply in Spanish or vice versa. Then they look at me like wtf is up with this guy.
There’s a big difference between Spanish and Portuguese way of speaking. But I agree that most of their words came from similar background.

@AthrillatheHunt Spuyten dyvil isn’t Dutch but maybe very old fashioned Dutch. “Spugende duivel” is how I’d say it

@Michmich ahhhh. NYC was once Dutch and many places still have the old Dutch names

I speak Swedish but somehow, even while learning the language, Norwegian felt easier to understand? I can't explain it, I think the accent makes it easier to follow cause it sounds like some sort of stupid Swedish which is pretty much the kind of Swedish I speak

@SW-User yeah I understand. Get a drunk Russian trying to speak Spanish and you got portuguese.

I could read basic Spanish and Portuguese. I’m too lazy to speak either, so I reply in English when in Spain or Portugal.
